At 45 I realised I had an 8 year old who I couldn’t keep up with. The fear of being partial to my sons and not being able for my daughter hounded me and I knew I had to do something to get strong again.

Helloallyoufitnessfans,

I’ve been an active member of the Catholic Club Gym for the past four years and apart from thoroughly enjoying the experience, I have benefitted tremendously in my physicalfitness. The very well thought out and superb range of equipment has helped me build up my stamina and tone my physique in the right places.

We are lucky to have a very friendly and qualified Gyminstructor in Wayne who ensures a proper balance and distribution of exercises while maintaining the limits of each person’s capabilities so that mishaps due to over exertion, are strictly guarded against.

Come join us, you will soon see the difference!

I took to Zumba while in the United States and back in India I hit the Catholic Club Gym. The results are in.

Motivation came from a friend in the United States and then reinforced by my trainer Suresh at the Gym. He’s dedicated and reallyseriousaboutfitness.ButyesIhavegothimtosmile.

Also Aerobic classes held by Linsey De Nazareth provides a break in my routine on alternate days. I’m very grateful to her.

Its not about the weight. I felt beautiful even then.

Some form of exercise must be part of our daily routine.

STRONG is the new FIT.

SPORTICO had an exciting month so far.

Squash/ Badminton:We conducted a “Tin and Bottle” tournament, where we saw over 50 enthusiastic players participate. Our winners of the badminton court was “Team Marie”.

Squash had a tie between 2 strong teams, “Team Jai and Team Kenuite”. All’s well is what ends well. When it comes to an after party we have a big happy bunch of sports enthusiasts. Winners popped the bottle open and there began an eveningfilledwithwhatwas thebest strike or drop picked etc, thanks to our generous sponsor “ Managing Committee”.

CC invited the Woodrose Club from J P Nagar for a Squash tournament. Catholic Club led the score board with a smashing score of 5-3. Kudos to the youngest star of the evening, Dhruv Menden’s, who won 3-2 against a 36 year old player from Woodrose Club, that surely was the highlight of the evening.

Mekhala Subedar is a 4 time National Champion and an International Squash referee. She was kind enough to conduct a Squash workshop for all age groups on 21 Aug 2015. We had tremendous participation. Mekhala has also offered to conduct coaching classes on weekdays. Kindly ring up the Club Reception to know more.

We will also be starting Badminton coaching soon, please call the reception for more details.

For theveryfirst timeweat iBrowseon the14thof August, had the pleasure of showcasing a travelogue. ‘1400 bananas, 76 towns and one million people’ written by Samir Nazareth, and published by Leadstart, which takes us on his six month trip, to all the little towns starting from the remote North West of India and climaxing way above sea level at the Indo-Tibetian border. Samir who lives in Nagpur introduced us to his back pack wanderings, which connected with us readers at so many levels and evoked a lot of memories in us of places we ourselves have visited. No fancy pre-booked hotels and five starmeals. Samirworked the trip ona shoe- string budget of about 80k and as the book’s name suggests, ate a lot of bananas along the way!

The hall was packed, there were lots of questions which just kept coming once the ice was broken, and the evening had Rohit Dave, theatre personality, read excerpts selected from across the book. Infact he did it so well, that he concluded the evening with a reading out of the last chapter, which was heartwarming and had a big crowd line up to buy a copy. As always authors give iBrowsers a good discount off their list price and everyone goes home happy.

The KGA (Karnataka Goan Association) generously came forward and sponsored the wine and cheese evening which had delicious canapes added to the trays of cheeseandthewineflowed.ThankyouKGAformaking the evening extra special, with your generosity and magnanimous support. Vani has a gifted copy of the book, for those who missed the evening.

Our next author for the 11th of September is Pankaj Sekhsaria with his novel -- ‘The Last Wave’. Pankaj has workedinthefieldof theenvironmentandof wildlifeconservation with a particular focus on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Not many of us know about these islands and it would be a great opportunity to interactwithascientist, workinginthefield.Docomeon the 11th of September at 6pm in the Ball room. All welcome.
