President’s Message October 2016 The Wayne Drumlins Antique Auto Region Volume 41 Issue 9 October 2016 Published by and for the Wayne Drumlins Antique Auto Region Inc. Greetings Folks, First of all, my apologies for being a bit late with this issue. It seems I got carried away with fall cleaning and lost track of the days. Everyone thinks of spring cleaning but fall is a great time to clean up too. Fall cleaning does not have to be confined to just the lawns and gardens. It is a great time to visit the garage and sort out all the treasures you have accumu- lated during the summer at all the various shows and flea markets. With a bit of diligent effort, it might even be possible to create enough room to get the family car inside for the inevitable coming winter. Well, one can dream. Fall is also the time of one of nature’s most spectacular shows here in the North East. Of course, we are talking of the fall colors. Various reports have suggested the colors will be late this year due to the extended weeks of above normal temperatures. Other reports say the extreme drought conditions will bring the colors out early. Either way, there are few natural occurrences around this part of the country to rival the yel- lows, oranges and reds of the Maples, the brilliant scarlet of the Sassa- fras, the burgundy of the Oaks, the yellows of the Poplars and a veritable rainbow of reds, oranges, and yellows from the other trees of the forest. All this punctuated by the vibrant greens of the scattered pines. All in all, it is a great time for a leisurely ride through the country side in your favor- ite car before having to think of putting it away for it’s winter’s nap. Enjoy the season and drive safely. Greetings Folks,

First of all, my apologies for being a bit late with this issue. It seems I got carried away with fall cleaning and lost track of the days. Everyone thinks of spring cleaning but fall is a great time to clean up too. Fall cleaning does not have to be confined to just the lawns and gardens. It is a great time to visit the garage and sort out all the treasures you have accumu-lated during the summer at all the various shows and flea markets. Either way, there are few natural occurrences around this part of the country to rival the yel-lows, oranges and reds of the Maples, the brilliant scarlet of the Sassa-fras, the burgundy of the Oaks, the yellows of the Poplars and a veritable rainbow of reds, oranges, and yellows from the other trees of the forest. All this punctuated by the vibrant greens of the scattered pines. All in all, it is a great time for a leisurely ride through the country side in your favor-ite car before having to think of putting it away for it’s winter’s nap. Enjoy the season and drive safely.

In Appreciation

Car show committee chairman George O’Neil had a busy month of September. Through-out the history of our annual car shows, Wayne Drumlins has been blessed with many loyal show sponsors. Each year, the car show committee sends let-ters of appreciation to all of our sponsors to expresses the Club’s appreciation. For spon-sors who have achieved mile-stone marks of five year incre-ments, special plaques of recog-nition are presented. This year we had the honor of presenting a special plaque for thirty five years of sponsorship to Peter Herman, Inc. Peter Herman is seen with George O’Neil in the top photo. Peter Herman, Inc. is a pallet manufacturing company in Marion, NY. The second photo shows Jeff VanRiper, Foundation Commit-tee member of Seneca Foods in Marion, NY, receiving a com-memorative plaque for thirty years sponsorship. In the bottom photo, Heather Ta-vano, Human Relations director for Legendary Auto Interiors of Newark, NY, is accepting a plaque for ten years of sponsor-ship. Owners Mark and Tracy Falkey, Daughter and Son-in-law of Wayne Drumlins member Sue VanCamp.

The original owner of this car was from Bath, NY. She drove this car very little before selling it to a gentleman in Dundee, NY. The new owner partially restored the car and parked it in his barn from 1990 to 2006 when we purchased it from him with only 38,900 miles on it. He had never licensed it and only trailered it to a few cruise-ins and car shows.

We now just enjoy driving it in parades, going to cruise-ins and car shows, and just go-ing out for dinner, ice cream, or a sunset ride.

This beautiful automobile was the winner of the Supervisor’s Award at our 39

th an-

nual Car Show and Flea Market this year. We thank Mark and Tracey for braving the weather to share this gem with us.

The Terrace at Newark

We had a nice showing at the gathering at the Terrace in Newark in September. We had an un-expected car join us. It was a 1955 Chevy owned by our "Best of Show" winner, Leslie Adrian-sen. Les is so proud of his trophy for Best of Show that he made a stand to display his trophy and he carries it with him in the car. It is wonderful that he is still so excited about winning. We were also treated to root beer floats by the staff at the Terrace. It was a very enjoyable evening for both the residents and the car owners. Thank you to all who participated.

Jean & Pete Editor’s note: Leslie Adriansen’s car is scheduled to be our November cover photo
