WIBTA’s Mission Statement

To promote the development, improvement and broadening of tourism, business and cultural opportunities and the quality of the environment of that portion of the Thousand Islands, St. Lawrence River and the Lake Ontario Region within and adjacent to Wolfe Island.

Goals

1. To stimulate tourism and encourage visitors to this region by:

– -Creating and distributing promotional material;-Operating the Wolfe Island Visitors Information Centre;-Responding to enquiries; -Hosting the www.wolfeisland.com website

- Organizing events and festivals.

2. To advance the residential, commercial and agricultural interests of the community by all proper means.

3. To conserve the environmental quality of the region through conservation and preservation of natural resources.

WIBTA Projects- 2004

Development of Birdwatching as a tourist attraction to the island:– Website link is established– Needs more attention to realize its potential

Development of a Wolfe Island Heritage site on the internet:– Interviews have been conducted with approximately

10 seniors– Next steps are to transcribe the texts and put them on

the website

WIBTA allocated $1000.00 this year to improvements Elise Huffman coordinated:

– new paint (herself), – new counter(Steve Roy),

– new drapes (Sophie Angenent),

– new display boards and bench, and – new awning ( Chris Angenent)– Volunteer Appreciation High Tea (Brown’s Bay Inn)
