PRESIDENT’S MEMO

Happy Fall!

Boy, do I LOVE this time of year!! Visiting pumpkin patches, going apple picking, playing in the leaves with the kids and starting to plan new events at the school for the children!

What an AWESOME first month of school! We've held 4 events this past month including Roller Skating, Chuck E. Cheese, Wendy's and let's not forget the packed Back to School Bash! Our Back to School Bash had a huge turnout and raised over $1,000 through memberships and the sale of snacks. This is phenomenal since we gave away the Pizza, Hot dogs, White Castles, Chips, and Drinks to our members! AND talk about games...To be with the 'new age' we had Wii bowling challenges on the Pro Board, Bingo, Win Lose or Draw, and Bean Bags. I loved seeing all of the children smiling and having so much fun! It is our goal to continue to provide fun events throughout the year for students and their families and to continue to provide necessary funding to the schools as needed for various programs and supplies. We are going to do that this year by adding a couple of FUN nights out for the parents! We will have 2 Bingo nights! Mark your calendars for Wed, Nov 16th and Wed, March 22nd. Depending on how successful they are, will determine if we will do more. Another exciting adventure is creating and selling a " ONE OF A KIND" Monopoly board in which our local businesses are the real estate spots on the board! Can you imagine someone

Page 2: PRESIDENT’S LETTER · Web view– Halloween Bash! PRESIDENT ’ S MEMO Happy Fall!Boy, do I LOVE this time of year!! Visiting pumpkin patches, going apple picking, playing in the

looking at your business on the board every time they play the game??? How Cool is that? We will be selling these spots soon. Contact me if you're interested.

Our first delicious fundraiser the PTO is sponsoring is the sale of Butter Braids! Hopefully, some of you had a chance to sample some at the Back to School Bash. Not only are they delicious AND you will have them in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, BUT... We will make $5.00 profit for each Butter Braid sold! Please ask your friends and family if they would like to purchase some, they will love them! All orders are due by 10/15. If your child did not bring home an order form, please visit our web site to print one. arborparkpto.com<http://arborparkpto.com>

Come see all of the rest of the exciting things we have planned for the school year! Please join us at our next PTO meeting on Thursday, Oct 13th in the Arbor Park Library at 7PM. Not only will we update everyone on various events that we have planned, a representative from the district will update us on each school. Please come voice your ideas or concerns and see where your money is spent.

Attached below are some supplies Katelyn Schuit, a Speech Therapist at Kimberly Heights bought with money she earned from attending our PTO events. She even roller skated with the kids at Tinley Park Roller Rink. Way to go Katelyn!

A wise woman and a great friend once told me parents have many different ways to help the PTO, schools and the children and we must share them!

No Time, No Money... Join the PTO and you can go to most PTO sponsored events with your family "FREE" all year! Ask us for a Food 4 Less card so the PTO can earn 5% on all of your purchases, Purchase gift cards for Christmas through our Manna program so we can receive rewards, save Coca Cola points for us to purchase soda for our events.

Little Time, No Money... Attend our PTO Meeting once a month and volunteer to help at some of our events

No Time, Little Money... Purchase some of our fundraising items like Butter Braids, Fannie Mae and Little Caesars. Attend our fundraising events such as Roller Skating, Wendy's, Chuck E. Cheese, Fun Fair, Holiday, Shop, and 5K Run.

Things, I'm looking forward to... Our 2nd Annual Halloween Bash which will be held on Friday, October 28th, 5-8PM!!! We will start organizing and planning soon... If you have any ideas or want to be on our team, we'd LOVE to have you! Please meet with us before the PTO meeting on 10/13 at 6PM. We could definitely use some help to make it AWESOME for the children!!!

The top selling students were Jada Townsend, who sold $1116.50, Joe Schmitz, who sold $352.00 and John McGinnis, who sold $271.00. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to enrich our educational programs.

MGS Spirit wear will be delivered to us soon. When items arrive, the office will distribute the clothing to students to take home. Can’t wait to see all the MGS Owls show their school pride!!

Students will learn all about fire safety when the OFFD visits MGS on October 14th. Firemen will show students a video and discuss creating a plan with family members in case of a fire in the home. Students will also get to tour one of the fire trucks with their class.

Our Halloween Parade will be on October 30th at 10:00 am, rain or shine. The parade will begin at the main entrance. Students will walk across the blacktop along the north side of the building and reenter the school through Door 5 on the building’s west side. ARBOR PARK Changing SeasonsParents and students, we are in full swing as we officially exited summer and began the Fall season. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere and to our staff, it takes 21 days for a behavior to become a habit. Reflection is a strong learning tool and I’m asking every reader to reflect on the year so far. We are off to an incredible start to our school year. Student behavior has been some of the best I’ve ever

witnessed and the passion from our staff to deliver their best for our students is commendable. However, we have just started our race to June.

Student Council’s Back to School Bash was attended by over 300 students who were treated to a professional DJ, games, food and excellent company. Thanks to all of our organizers and volunteers!

Below are a few pictures from the Student Council’s “Back to School Bash”.

PBISOur PBIS team met for the first time in early September and our meetings will be held every first Wednesday of the month at 7:10 am. Below you will find our average referral rate per day.

APMS is currently averaging 0.43 referrals per day with puts us in the 95th percentile of PBIS schools with our student population. While we are excited for such great momentum, it’s typical for schools implementing PBIS to see a spike as we refine our data collection and analysis process
