Every club is different which is fantastic as it allows members of the community looking for a club that suits them have this choice. I hope by now all clubs are generating interest within their membership to fill any vacant committee positions for the forthcoming year. Being on the committee of your club gives you an opportunity to influence the de- cision makers of your club to try new things, to move with the times especially in this age of electronic media. We all need to embrace the changes that society is now placing upon us to ensure your club is in a position to attract the new younger membership that may arrive on your door step. I am very pleased to advise that on the 10th March there is an Interest Meeting been arranged for a proposed new Probus Club in the North Mandurah District of San Remo. Murray McNally has been the driving force behind this and thanks go to the Rotary Club of Mandurah for sponsoring this new club. Most of the Mandurah based clubs have no membership vacancies and have waiting lists. The formation of this club will give those members of the community on these lists, the opportunity to become Foundation Members of the new club and assist in the development of this exciting new venture. SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU SMILE

Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes; come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller! Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven't met yet! Old age is coming at a really bad time! The biggest lie I tell myself is ... "I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it." I don't have grey hair. I have "wisdom highlights". I'm very wise. The kids text me "plz" which is shorter than please. I text back "no" which is shorter than "yes". (Thanks to Val Green from MIPC)

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and are having a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

A lot of clubs go quiet over the festive season but now it is time to re awaken and plan the year ahead.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS Remember that all clubs have their annual elections in March. If clubs haven’t organized their Presidents, Secretaries Treasurers and Committees yet, for 2015-2016, time is running out. Nomination forms should be out and filled in by you February Meeting. Membership payments are due now also.

THE 2015 PAWA SOUTH WEST REGION INFORMATION AND FRIENDSHIP DAY will, as previously reported be at a new improved venue. Our venue for 2015 will be the recently refurbished LIGHTHOUSE RESORT in Bunbury. On Thursday7th May and all club committees will be urged to attend. The last few have been well attended, beneficial to attendees and enjoyable.

As we all know there is a tendency for clubs to recycle committee personnel and I often hear “I was President three years ago and attended an Information Day I don’t need to go again.” We have changed the format to make it more interesting and this year there are a number of changes at PAWA and PSPL level that you need to know about. So we urge all office bearers to attend and those Non office bearers who are also interested. If clubs have specific issues they would like covered let me know. More information will be sent to clubs soon.

THE 2015 SOUTH WEST GET TOGETHER 2015 will be in Mandurah on Tuesday 17th November 2015. The host club next year is Mandurah Island Probus Club and they have impressed us with their enthusiasm and determination to present a fantastic event The Chairman of the committee is Terry Gilchrist and Secretary is Joy Shadbolt. You will be hearing a lot more from them as time passes but put the date in your calendar now and encour-age all your friends in Probus not to miss it.

GUEST SPEAKERS We are still trying to set up a guest speakers and activities list that is appropriate for our South West Region. A lot of the suggestions in the PAWA list are not available out of Perth.

I would like to have a first draft available to discuss at the May Information Day, so if any clubs out there have had good speakers that they think would travel to other country clubs please let me know names and contact details. Obviously they will need to be contacted and asked if they are willing.

With activities please send basic details and an idea of costs. To the several clubs have responded, I look forward to more responses. Don Faulks PAWA South West Representative 2014-2015

WA Probus Club Directory 2015/16

This year EXCEL is being used to assemble the WA Club Directory. This give us an opportunity to exchange Directory information by e-mail using an Excel spreadsheet. The procedure is simple. 25 Clubs have successfully participated in a test run. If your Club would like to exchange their directory information using Excel then please send an e-mail to [email protected]. I will send you details of the optional new procedure. When the Directory is finalised the Directory Excel file will be available electronically to Clubs who request it. This Excel file will be progressively updated by PAWA as changes are advised by Clubs. The updated spreadsheet will be sent electronically to Clubs quarterly. E-mail addresses will not be printed or circulated in the Excel file. Two printed copies of the final 2015/16 Directory will be sent to all WA Clubs. For Clubs who wish to either post in their information (or scan and e-mail), a standard Directory information form is attached. Please note this is a repeat of the information sent by e-mail to Club Secretaries. Regards and best wishes for 2015
