It was a wonderful evening for our Elders. There were scores of games ranging from knitting, sewing and gardening to music, reading and crossword puzzles all being the hobbies of our elders. Amidst drinks and snacks their favorite music added an air of nostalgia to the evening followed by a sumptuous dinner. Many prizes were won, many jokes were cracked and our dear elders had a swell evening.

Our club, for the first time this year celebrated Onam with a traditional ‘Onam Sadya’. We were sold out a day in advance and a large number of our members, their families and friends turned up in their festival attire to be treated to a delicious vegetarian spread of 20+ items. Thank you Lukose, Naveen and all those who volunteered thus making this event a success. We have introduced live counters on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons. The menu changes every week so do come and enjoy these lip smacking specials. Every Wednesday night we have live music at the Guitar Grill restaurant. There is a special set menu on offer so if you need to dine out, make sure you head to the Guitar Grill. The banquet rates for party catering by Guitar Grill have been reduced and trust me its a steal. Please take advantage of the same on bookings of 20 or more. You can contact the F&B manager for details regarding the same.

The Bar can look forward to some special offers in the coming months. Please excuse us if certain brands are unavailable as they are out of stock at the depot. We will stock up as soon as they are available. New brands will also be added, so do look out for our new arrivals. Bar nights continue to be held every Friday, so do drop by for some good food, drinks and music.

‘Marry’ go round in October!

It’s amazing how every iBrowse meeting turns out to be so different and yet so interesting. Jane D’souza Gopalakrishnan’s event, with her book ‘The Spy who lost her head’ on the 12th September was a great experience and so was the one before with young Suzanne Sangi and ‘Face book Phantom’. That’s what makes iBrowse special and it’s a good feeling to know the club is growing and rapidly at that.Initially there was this endless worry if a number of e- mails arrived saying “We can’t come,” for whatever reason. Thoughts like “Would I get at least ten people? Hope the hall is not empty”, often sped through my mind. But now the worry has stopped because there are lots and lots of new faces along with the old, that appear every time and that happily, is the wonder of iBrowse. Finally THAT, is what makes the effort all so worthwhile, every single month.Jane D’Souza Gopalakrishnan started her introduction to her hilarious mystery book “The Spy who lost her head” with a set of mystery games

iBROWSE

to get us all into the mood. Club member Itisha Peerbhoy, who conducted the game, started with a mysterious statement like - ‘We have a murderer in the room’ and the audience could ask her up to 20 questions to guess the answer. It took our iBrowser’s a few seconds to start rattling off the questions and it was a lot of nail biting and exciting guesses, to get the correct answers. Assumpta D’Souza was able to point out the exact chair, where the ‘bomb’ was fixed and so, got to walk away with a delicious bar of chocolate.

Jane’s book ‘The Spy who lost her head’ with the very improbable detective Gulabi aka Pink Rose in search of her ‘BEMBA,’ is a rollicking read and she has generously gifted the library a copy for those interested. The book discussion on ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’ by JK Rowling had members deliberating on everything from race issues, to colour prejudice, besides the horror of suicide which were issues touched upon in the book.

The guest author for October is celebrity author Sadiqa Peerbhoy with ‘Marry Go Round’ written in a refreshingly humourous style. Sadiqa is well known
