January 2011 Paint-In at Pheasant Run Windy Brushes will hold a winter get-away Paint-In at Pheasant Run in St. Charles. It will be a time to relax after the Christmas rush and enjoy the company of fellow painters while painting and enjoying a variety of fun activities. Mark your 2011 calendar for January 7-9th and look for information to come in the near future. Windy Brushes is looking for someone to Chair this event. Please see Dorothy Carbonara or Bettie Slazyk to volunteer for this event.

Thank you to our Webmaster, Jim Rupany I would like to thank and acknowledge our Webmaster, Jim Rupany (husband of Bev Rupany) for his support of our chapter. Jim does a great job of keeping our website updated. We will be revising the website as an ongoing project, when time allows. Thank you Jim. Toni

March 2010—Paint Program—Candle Wraps The paint program at the March meeting will be taught by Debi Gajewski. Debi does teach us-ing American paints. We will be using American paints which will be donated by Debi and Americana. The cost of the paint program in March will be $5.00, plus $1.00 per candle wrap. We are asking if members would like to paint additional wraps to be sold by Windy Brushes at the convention in Kansas in May at our Market Place table. Please sign-up at the March meet-ing, take the wraps home to be painted and please mail them back to Debi or bring them to the May 2010 chapter meeting. Debi will have additional wraps for purchase. Please make sure to mark on your reservation form if you will be participating.

Vintage Books—Debbie Cole, Chair Everyone enjoys browsing through our Vintage Books at each meeting. Our supply is

dwindling. If when the winter doldrums hit, do an inventory and bring the unwanted books to our next meeting. We all would appreciate it and our bookcases will be ready for more.

Thanks, Debbie Cole

SHUTTERFLY—WINDY BRUSHES PICTURES Toni has set up a Shutterfly.com account for Windy Brushes of Northern Illinois, which allows all our members to have access to photos from past meetings, seminar photos, etc. This gives everyone the ability to download photos for use in our newsletter and for chapter members to access the photos. The photos are online, so it does hold the files on the website and doesn't take up space on anyone's hard drive, except those you choose to download. It also allows you to select the size of each photo that you wish to download. Address for this site is: http://windybrushesofnorthernillinois.shutterfly.com

Historian for 2010—Carol Buck

Carol Buck, Chair – Please remember to send any photos or mementos you would like to share with the Chapter and add to our historical scrape books, via email or snail mail. Thank you.

SDP UPDATE 2010 & 2011 CONFERENCES The 2010 conference and the 2011 conference will be in Wichita, Kansas. This would be a great time for everyone to go Home to the Heartland and see the wonderful heritage that is our Society. All members should have received the current issue of the Decorative Painter, which also included the convention booklet. Don’t forget to get your reservation in for a great week of learning and shar-ing.

Ways and Means Well members, I am just back from Florida on a mission to find some unique and fun items to restock our Ways and Means inventory for our March meet-

ing. Members enjoyed all the great items at the January meeting, especially the totes, great for carrying your painting supplies, the Artists’ totes were also a

terrific buy. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting.

FUNDRAISER FOR 2010 Come one – Come all to help in our Windy Brushes 2010 Fundraiser. Dorothy has asked us (Nancy Simpson and Jan Kuehne) to co-chair a Painted Quilt project for our fund-raiser for 2010. At the March meeting we will have all the details plus… fabric backed with Freezer Paper, line drawings and colored pictures for those that would like to participate in this project. We have selected Sherry Nel-son designs for our quilt and needless to say Sherry was thrilled to give us the OK to use her designs. If you have never painted on fabric it will not be a problem because if you are not using fabric paints you can us acrylic paints with a TEXTILE MEDIUM. Just use a little mixed in your paints or put a small amount on the area to be painted or in your brush with your paint. If you are using textile medium use the medium SPARINGLY. A little goes a long way. Look for us at the March meeting. We will need all the help that we can, and it is a good chance to help our chapter. Thank you and see you at the meeting. Nancy Simpson and Jan Kuehne

The mural at the South Barrington Club was completed by a small group of energetic group earlier this month. Many thanks to Ann Johnson, Barbara Marshall,

Chris Grable, Carol Miller, Chris Wood, and Sue Jacobs. We already got-ten rave reviews from the club. Be sure to go see it when we hold our next seminar at the club. We took pictures, but as this is in a long hallway it’s

best to see it in person.

If you have had time dur-ing this blustery season to paint something or have taken a class and haven’t displayed it yet, please bring it to the meeting. Everyone will love to see your pieces. You may just inspire someone to get out their supplies and start painting. As an added bonus, you will receive a free raffle ticket for every item you bring in to display. Thank you, Kathy

Hi Everyone, First I would like to thank all of you who contributed with the clothing for the Journey Shelter, I'm sure the donations are very appreci-ated. For our March Meeting, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for a local food pantry. Please remember to check the expiration date on the food. The food pantries will not except any out dated items. In this newsletter there is also be a list of items that our military personnel could really use.

Since Memorial Day is in May, we will be collecting for our military overseas. I just thought if you know in advance it would give you a little longer to get the items together.

Thanks to all of you and may God bless you, Barbara Marshall
