We firmly believe that a rising tide floats all boats. One of the toughest nuts we have tried to crack over the years is how to convince residents of Ramona to patronize our own local businesses rather than travel down the hill to shop. This has been a problem without a solution for years. We can implore people to shop locally, and we have, but it is a colossal task for a small business to compete with the older brick and mortar superstores as to price or product. Add into the equation the rapidly expanding popularity of online shopping, and the challenge is immense. I have felt for a long time that retailers who depend on walk-in traffic only are missing half the equation. It is imperative that retailers of any size maximize an online presence and even set up virtual storefronts to market their wares and services. That allows us to reach beyond the borders of our community and attract regional and even national exposure. A successful business takes advantage of all avenues to market and distribute their products. Your Chamber of Commerce works very hard in its efforts to market Ramona and its attractions to bring people up to Ramona to see all that we have to offer, engage in activities and shop in our establishments. One of the key components to competing with other down the hillretailers is personal service and responsiveness. Shoppers still, I believe, like the personal touch and familiarity of a small mom and pop owned business. Another component is carrying inventory that is unique and not necessarily available in the big box stores. The third component is appealing to our residents to support our business community as the business community supports the town. I believe we, as members of the Ramona Chamber of Commerce, need to set the example for the entire community and endeavor to buy exclusively from Ramona businesses. I am personally committed to this and implore all of us to proceed with that commitment. If we do not support each other, how can we convince our residents to do the same? The Ramona Chamber of Commerce is always looking to explore options that will lead to the betterment of the business community in Ramona and the town in general. We firmly believe that a rising tide floats all boats.

One of the toughest nuts we have tried to crack over the years is how to convince residents of Ramona to patronize our own local businesses rather than travel down the hill to shop. This has been a problem without a

solution for years.

Your Chamber of Commerce works very hard in its efforts to market Ramona and its attractions to bring people up to Ramona

to see all that we have to offer, engage in activities and shop in our establishments. But these efforts need to be coupled with the businesses reaching out to those who have not yet availed themselves of Ramona’s spectacular opportunities and attractions.

One of the key components to competing with other “down the hill” retailers is personal service and responsiveness.

I intend to huddle with staff and our talented Chamber board to develop a locally grown “Shop Local” campaign, as well as provide educational opportunities for businesses in online marketing and storefronts. I welcome any suggestions that our creative team of Chamber members may have to assist us in developing this program.

Let’s commit ourselves to helping our own and helping our community fully understand from a retail perspective all Ramona has to offer. SHOP LOCAL!

Aloha! Fix Auto Central Ramona hosted our Networking Mixer on Thursday, June 21st. What a colorful night is was with members all dressed for the Hawaiian Luau themed mixer. Fix Auto went above and beyond with an assortment of decorations. Donna Fabean and the Fix Auto team created a fun Luau atmosphere and members enjoyed the Tiki Bar which served Pina Coladas. Pork and steak sliders, mixed fruit with pineapple, Hawaiian chips and cookies were showcased on the counter for members to devour. This was the first mixer Fix Auto has hosted and new mixer location brought in potential members. We can’t wait until the next Fix Auto Central Ramona mixer next year.

H5 Financial - Chip in for Education Golf Tournament

This month we would like to recognize chamber member Shelly Heimer, owner of H5 Financial, for her great involvement in our community. H5 Financial recently sponsored the Chip in for Education Golf Tournament on June 15, 2018. Proceeds benefitted Friends of Ramona Unified Schools (FORUS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps to fill deferred maintenance gaps that potentially affect the health and safety of Ramona Unified School District students and employees. Donations and fundraisers such as the golf tournament make it possible for FORUS to respond to health and safety requests from the schools.
