PRESIDENT PAUL’S PONDERINGS Hello Members Well getting back into the swing of Lions after the Christmas Break was a bit of a struggle. We quickly got into Harvey Norman and Bunnings BBQ’s, Board Meetings, Working Bees, Park Mowing, Containers for Change and then topping it off with our Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony. Thank you everybody for your ability to give 100% to Lions” Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony was excellent again. The grounds looked great, we had maximum Covid numbers and the participants all enjoyed the occasion. Denis’ photo attached shows the happy smiling faces. 2021 will be a big year for GVK as we prepare and move to our new $1.25million home at James Drysdale Reserve. Building has already commenced and I encourage everyone to drop by from time to time to check out the progress. One thing our Club will need as the months roll by is New Members I’d like to ask every member to think about their Friends, Neighbours, Church Friends, people who may need a purpose. People who are givers of their time but not necessarily doing this formally. Well I guess that means anyone. Our younger Friends, Acquaintances and Family could also make excellent members (Even if they think they don’t have the time) There’s only one way to find out – Give Lions a go. If every member introduced a friend of acquaintance to GVK, not only would our numbers increase but our work load will decrease. Moving to James Drysdale will bring new opportunities to our Club where new members will be needed. Opportunities like: Managing the Facility Bookings / Arranging access and hirers requirements. Liaising with other Lions Clubs / Community Organisations to give our Facility a try. Perfect for Cabinet Meetings / YOTY Club and Zone Finals / Movie and Games Nights for Leos and other Youth Groups / our Craft Group. Establishing catering contacts to service our facility. Establishing the Coffee nook (Maybe even a training facility in conjunction with TAFE). Possibility of establishing a Sunday Market where we hire out “Car Park” space, but also have the ability to sell our own product (Donuts, Sausages, Coffee etc.) on site. While MBRC will provide initial landscaping, I could also see us establishing a number of outdoor zones.

some yummy and unique ones. Here is mine,

No Welsh afternoon tea would ever be complete

The Club ran another successful Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.
Thank you to Lion Darryl and Lion Denise for all the organization. Also to all who helped
on the day, putting out chairs and making sandwiches. (of course we over catered as usual.)
The club grounds looked really inviting after a mow and tidy up.
Thanks to Lions Mark Furner, Matt Constance and Cr Andrew Wines for their
participation in the ceremony.
