WELCOMELETTER

Respected friends of "Jahorina Economic Forum",

Association of Economists of Republic of Srpska, under the auspicies of thePresident of Republic of Srpska together with Serbian Association of Economists, organizes the fourth "Jahorina Economic Forum". I would like to use this opportu-nity to thank our gold sponsor - Company "Mtel" that supports us for fourth year. Ofcourse, we owe recognition and gratitude to all our other sponsors who have recog-nized our mission in terms of improving the dialogue among all actors that makeour economic environment. As in previous years, eminent domestic and foreigneconomic experts, representatives of all governmental levels at BiH and neighbour-ing countries, heads of companies and financial institutions, but also diplomaticcorps and media would take part in this year’s Forum.

This year’s Forum is entitled "E-conomy of New Age – innovation, digitalizationand communication technologies as base of economic development".

Why these issues? Of course, there are certain prejudicies that we should notdeal with such complex issues as long as we have immense problems in our enter-prises engaged in production or while our basic infrastructure is underdeveloped.

However, we consider that we must not wait no longer to make an decisivebreakthrough into the field of modern technologies. Any delay would only increasethe gap between us and other countries that have gone so far in adapting the over-all social environment favourable to the development of advanced and competitiveindustry in regional and global terms.

The title of this year’s Forum covers a wide scope of innovations and purposesof IC technologies digitalization from production, financial sector, government insti-tutions, to media and educational system.

Our goal for this year’s Forum is to see where we stand today in relation to themost developed countries and the environment, but also to try to offer some solu-tions in order to catch connection with them.

However, we wish not only to point out problems that would pose a challengefor our companies and governmental officials in the future, but also to present ourpeople and companies who have proven themselves in the most demanding mar-kets. Their experiences may represent a valuable clue on how to respond to thesechallenges.

Although JEF has already become known after only three forums held, in thecoming years we shall work more on its re-positioning as one of the most importantregional events dealing with the economy.

Your help in achieving our goal would be more then valuable.

With respect,

Tuesday, April 23, 2019
