DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
GUEST LECTURE
A Guest lecture was organized by the Department of Civil Enginering for II, III and IV
year students on 03-01-2019. The Chief Guest Mr. Sudarshan R. Pillai, Senior
Engineer, Business Support, CADD Centre, Chennai, delivered a lecture on the topic
‘Industrial challenges & Technology Solutions’. This interaction gave students
information on the present challenges students face in the industrial sector and the
solutions for the problems.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Career development program was organized
by the Department of Civil & Mechanical
Engineering on 03.01.2019 at Chettinad Tech
campus for the benefit of II, III & IV year
students. The guest Mr. Arulmurugan,
Regional Manager, CADD Centre Training
Services, Pvt Ltd., Chennai, motivated the
students on the topics such as attitude,

At Chettinad Tech campus a content-based image retrieving process lecture was
delivered by the Chief guest Dr. N. Kumaran, HoD/CSE, Government Polytechnic

A Guest lecture was organized by the Department of ECE for II, III and IV year
students on 16-02-2019. The Chief Guest Dr. S. Shiyamala Associate Professor, ECE,
Veltech Rangarajan Dr.Sagunthala R&D Institute of science and Technology, Avadi,
Chennai, delivered the lecture on the topic Advanced low power VLSI . This
interaction gave students information on the present senario of Advanced low power

TECHNICAL SEMINAR
On 1st of February 2019, the Department of EEE & IEEE student chapter of Chettinad
Tech organized a technical seminar on Energy Management in Transformer & IE
rules and was presented by Mr. V. Anandhkumar, Assistant Professor, EEE for the
benefit of all the EEE students to enrich their knowledge on energy management.

GUEST LECTURE
On 03.01.2019, the Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a guest lecture
at Chettinad Tech campus. The Chief Guest Mr. Rajiv Thampi, Project Manager,
Mechanical, CADD Centre, Chennai, interacted with the students on the career
aspects of Mechanical Engineers and Industry’s recent approach for the Engineers. It
was a resourceful session for all the III and final year mechanical students.

ORIENTATION PROGRAM
A one-day Orientation program was organized by the Department of Management
Studies on 22-01-2019 at Chettinad Tech campus. The Chief Guest for the day was
Mr. V. Kanaga Sabapathy, Co-founder & Managing Director, Entercon Pvt., Ltd.,
Madurai who rendered the helping hand to the Management students in discovering
oneself and team building strategies.

ONE DAY WORKSHOP
A one day workshop on Business Data Analysis was organized by the Department of
MBA on 22.01.2019. The Chief Guest of the function was Dr. P. Kamalakannan,

Business Data Analysis and made the students understand the concepts of Data
analysis.

TALLY WORKSHOP
A one-day Tally workshop was organized by the
Department of Management Studies on 31-01-
2019 at Chettinad Tech campus. Nearly 180
under-graduate students from various Arts and
Science Colleges in and around Karur district
participated in the workshop and benefitted in
Tally. The Chief Guest of the workshop was Mr.
R. Rajasekar, M.Com., ACMA., ACS., Company
Secretary in Practice, Karur.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS CAMP
Chettinad College of Engineering and
Technology in Association with National
Science and Technology, Entrepreneurship
Development Board (NSTEDB), Government of
India, New Delhi organised an
entrepreneurship awareness camp at Chettinad
tech on 20.01.2019, Mr. A. P. Hariharan, Soft
Skill Trainer, Madurai, gave new insights in Goal
Setting and Psychometric analysis for the
students of Management studies.

POLYFEST’19
POLYFEST’19 was organized by Chettinad College of Engineering and Technology on
30- 01- 2019 for the polytechnic students. During the fest, various types of
workshops and contests were organized. Hands-On training gave knowledge on
recent trends in the field of engineering followed by demonstrations. The training
was on various topics based on the departments like Engine Assembly, Total Station,
CISCO Networking and MAT lab. It aimed to create awareness about the modern
trends in engineering and bring out students talents in the fields of Engineering and
Technology. Many contests such as paper presentation and quiz were conducted and
the winners were awarded with certificates and prizes. Nearly 400 participants from
15 Polytechnic colleges in and around Karur district participated in the fest and
gained knowledge.

12th SPORTS DAY
The 12th Annual Sports Day was organized in Chettinad College of Engineering &
Technology, on 02-02-2019. Mr. N. Bhuvan Nehru B.E, M.B.A, Assistant Manager, Tata
Consultancy Services, Chennai, was the Chief Guest of the day. He is a National
Champion in Basketball and also an Alumnus of Chettinad Tech. Dr. Mrs. A. Punitha,
our Principal delivered the welcome address. Our distinguished chief guest Mr. N.
Bhuvan Nehru declared the opening of sports meet after the March past and the day
was enhanced with lots of athletic events such as Relay, High jump, long jump, etc.
Medals and certificates were distributed to runners-up and winners of various
matches by our eminent Chief Guest. He insisted on the need of sports, the
importance of physical fitness and commitment towards the sportsmanship.

S. Monisha of III year ECE and K. Priyadharshini of IV year CSE won third place in the
CM Trophy organized by District Sports Association in the Basketball Women’s
tournament at Karur District Stadium, Thanthondrimalai on 30-01-2019 and also
participated in state level CM Trophy organized by Tamilnadu Sports Authority,
Madurai, from 19.02.2019 to 21.02.2019.

SAPLING PLANTATION
Sapling plantation was organized by Chettinad
Tech NSS co-ordinator and planted the saplings in
the Karur-Trichy Highway , Melapalayam VAO
office on 24-01-2019 with the help of Chettinad
Tech NSS volunteers to make India a green
country.
TRAFFIC AWARENESS
NSS of Chettinad Tech organized a Traffic
Awareness Program at Chettinad Tech campus on
06-02-2019. The Program created an awareness
among the students about the traffic rules and the
ways to avoid accidents. Students of Chettinad
Tech delivered the concept through a MIME.

CUP OF RICE
Leo Club of Chettinad Tech organized an event named Cup of Rice at Chettinad Tech.
Staff and Students of Chettinad Tech generously contributed rice on 9.1.2018 and
nearly 130 kgs of rice was collected and the same was donated to Orphanages and
Old age homes in Karur. This proved a helping hand of Chettinad Tech family
members.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION
Chettinad Tech celebrated the 70th Republic
Day. Our Tricolor was hoisted by Dr. K. P.
Senthilnathan, Head of the Department of Civil
Engineering and delivered his address.
Marchpast by NSS volunteers spread patriotic
fervour. Principal Dr. (Mrs). A. Punitha
distributed the certificates to the volunteers
and praised them. Followed by the Principal,
few of the students gave awe-inspiring
speeches both in Tamil and English on
Nationalism. Faculty members and students of
Chettinad Tech took part in the celebration.
Around 10 trees were planted within our college campus on the Republic Day by the
Leo club.

Project Proposal
Dr. G. Sahaya Dennish Babu, AP/Physics and Dr. K.P. Senthilnathan, HoD/Civil
proposed a project for 3.55 Lakhs. The project comes under Next Generation
Renewable Energy Technology. The proposal titled ‘Development Of Simplistic
Prototype Photo- Reactor For Converting Co2 Into Usable Fuels’ aimed to prepare
multi-metal oxide metal organic frameworks by sol-gel & simple chemical methods
and to construct a prototype photo-reactor based on MOFs as photo-catalyst for
converting CO2 gas into fuels and assess their performance.

V. Priyadharashini, P. Gheethalaxmi and M. Suriyaprakash of Final year CSE won an award of INAE Free Membership for each student of worth Rs.5000/Annum upto 2023(5 years Free Membership) from Indian National Academy of Engineering in the INAE YOUTH CONCLAVE.
P. Arun Kumar of III year mechanical and M.Gopal of II year Civil won a cash award of Rs. 1000 each in International CADD Modeling contest conducted at CADD Data Centre, Karur.
R.Deepak Kumar, Akshai Prasath and M.Anna Malai of III year Mechanical Engineering presented a paper titled ‘Fork Lift with Romote Control’ in ‘DHRONA 2k19 -Technical Symposium’ at Kathir College of Engineering, Coimbatore on 01-02-2019.

the guidance of Dr.K.P.Senthinathan, HoD/CIVIL got a fund sanctioned of Rs.7500
for the project titled “Silicone rubber reinforcement” organized by TAMILNADU
STATE COUNCIL FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.

Project titled ‘E- Farmer’ under Agriculture and Rural development was selected as one among the top three in National level project contest. Hariharan.V, Geethalaxmi.P, Dhamodaran.P, Lavanya.B, Rajkumar.V, Priyadharshini.K of IV year CSE participated and presented the project in the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2019 held at C.V.Raman College of Engineering, Bhubaneswar on 02.03.2019 & 03.03.2019.
