• It is the largest network in the world that connects hundreds of thousands of networks all over the world.

• This year the number of Internet users worldwide reached 2.27 billion, almost exactly twice what it was in 5 years ago, 1.15 billion.

Blocked websites in Sudan

Although The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-08) was adopted a new Resolution 69 on Non discriminatory access and use of Internet resources.

There are many websites which have been blocked in the Sudan.

The Internet is free to be accessed by anyone, anywhere at any time.

But, in reality, people Sudan do not have access to Google chrome browser, Google Earth , Sourceforge.net and many other useful web sites

The java development kit JDK also has been blocked from Sudan

Open source’ software provides great support to software programmers in developing applications and technology systems.

This ‘open source’ is available for free , and is developed through contributions made by the global community on voluntary basis.

’SourceForge.net’ is one such largest ‘ open Source’ development software that is blocked from access by Sudan .

The blocking of above mentioned web sites from users and developers in Sudan contradicts with the open source philosophy and Internet freedom

The Sudanese Commission for Telecommunication (SCT) announced that it has filed a formal complaint to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on sites that have been blocked in the Sudan.

The Sudanese Commission for Telecommunication (SCT) wants to find out the "real reasons" behind the blocking of several sites including Google chrome, Google open code, MSN messenger, Oracle "creating account", Source forge
