Over the years, ITINERA has established itself as a leader in the construction of roads,

motorways, railways and bridges, developing significant projects in Italy and abroad both in

terms of amounts and dimensions, building thousands of kilometers of roads and motorways.

Among the most important projects carried out, we can point out the reconstruction and

expansion of the Turin-Milan Motorway (for a length of over 100 km), the Mestre-Padua

Motorway (20 km), the reconstruction of four sections of State Roads in Romania (over 200 km),

and the construction of a motorway section in Morocco.

Through management of road projects in both flat and hilly terrain, ITINERA has acquired

expertise in the construction bridges, tunnels and embankments with different types of

materials. The know-how and experience it has gained means that today Itinera is able to

handle most with its own resources, overseeing planning and management to optimize

construction time and guarantee the high quality standards required by national and

international clients.

In the railway sector, we point out the realization of the Bari-Taranto line, some sections in

Sardinia, and in particular the realization of several lots of the new High Speed/High Capacity

line between Milan and Turin, with a total length of 125 kilometers, which entailed an

extraordinary effort from both a technical and organizational standpoint, including with regard to

the management of the labor resources, which involved over 6,000 workers.

ITINERA has many years experience in underground construction works in terrain ranging from

rock to loose soil, with the aid of pre-support and consolidation works. It has built more than 100

km of road, motorway and railway tunnels.

ITINERA‘s extensive experience enables it to resolve successfully every type of geological

difficulties, using the know-how of its personnel and specific machinery and systems to set up

an effective organization providing techniques and customized solutions on a case-by-case

basis.

Over the years, ITINERA acquired expertise in urban subway and underground station

construction, using full-face tunnel boring machines. Examples include the Turin and Naples

subway systems.

ITINERA’s many activities in the construction business also include water and energy sectors.

It built the dam on the Tirso river near Busachi in the Sardinian province of Oristano, one of

Europe’s largest reinforced concrete dams. It is currently building a dam on the Cedrino river

near Dorgali in the Sardinian province of Nuoro.

In maritime works, ITINERA is a member of the consortium working on the Mose Project for the

protection of Venice. It has performed important dredging operations and built wharves and

docks in Gioia Tauro and Genoa, and is handling similar operations on a concessions basis in

the ports of Taranto and Civitavecchia.

ITINERA also built the new dolphin pool as part of the project for the expansion of the Genoa

Aquarium designed by architect Renzo Piano.

Its hydraulic projects include numerous river bank works and interceptor sewers in cities such as

Trieste and Florence.

Airports

Over the years, ITINERA has handled many airports construction, projects–taxiways runways

aprons, terminals – for Italy’s main hubs including Milan-Malpensa, Rome Fiumicino, Bari Palese,

Venice Tessera, Bologna Borgo Panigale and Aosta Corrado Gex.

It uses innovative materials and advanced technologies, such as concrete slab paving,

One of ITINERA‘s main activities is ordinary and extraordinary maintenance works to keep the

3,320 km of motorways operated by the Gavio Group safe and efficient.

Every year, ITINERA carries out important road maintenance and resurfacing work, using

bituminous conglomerate with its own fixed and mobile production plants, which make it one of

today’s most highly qualified players in this specialized field.

In road maintenance, ITINERA has developed impressive expertise in the use of innovative

high-performance materials such as cold recycled road foundations, various types of noise-

absorbing pavings with high drainage properties, and high elastic module.

Other road maintenance operations include the renewal of concrete on structural works,

replacement of bridge and viaduct supports, installation of sound and safety barriers,

maintenance of green areas. Extraordinary maintenance includes rebuilding of bridges and

overpasses, and construction of toll barriers and service stations.
