• Purpose:• Learn the different writing tasks analysis• Also go through different writing processes including the planning, body writing, and draft stages

also known as the rubric• Focus on required information based on the task

• The Planning Stage:• Include the following stages:

• Collecting Ideas > Look for information, consult several sources, make point form notes, speak to experts, and let your thoughts incubate

• Draw up a paragraph plan > draw a rough grid, jot down one main idea for each paragraph, use key words, compare your completed grid to the task given to see if you have left out anything.

• Writing Topic Sentence > Each paragraph is topic driven, and good topic sentence sets the limits for that paragraph

• Needs to make a good impression• Introduction should echo the rubric, take ownership of the information and

define terms, avoid indefinite pronouns, and emphasis your logic with words.• Writing a Conclusion:

• Should leave a lasting and positive impression• Should show how all your points fit together• Re-state your main point or argument• Look to the future through your predictions• Call for a change in attitude / view point > make recommendations• Summarise all your points, ask interesting questions, and sum up new words

• Final Draft:• Look over your draft and find ways to improve it• To do this you need to:• Edit for succinctness > said in a clear and short way;

expressing what needs to be said without unnecessary words• Edit for clarity > the quality of being certain or

definite• Edit for coherent > logical links and consistent
