Vision
� To mobilise and empower South African Business to take effective
action on HIV/AIDS in the workplace and beyond.

Mission
� SABCOHA seeks to coordinate efforts to mitigate the impact of HIV
and AIDS on sustained profitability and economic growth.

� SABCOHA is a not-for-profit, member organisation.
� Member of BUSA.
� Over 200 members, of which 50 are corporate members.
�Funding from members as well as donors.
�Born out of Business Leadership SA.
�Strong relationship with industry bodies, chambers of commerce.

� Ensuring Business is part of a nationally; coordinated response
to HIV
� Represent business at SANAC and participate in NEDLAC
� Co-ordinate businesses provincially.
� Empowering Business in the fight against HIV.

– Medical male circumcision and the interface with traditional circumcision
– Target alcohol abuse – Prevention of TB and HIV in the workplace– National peer educator support network – Involve unions– Annual testing and screening– SETA funding for capacitating wellness

• Sectoral interventions that generated the highest number of votes were as follows:
– Mobilise business to participate: Visible leadership from Board's and Executive management insisting on effective communication across departments resulting in integrated, multi-
disciplinary workplace
– Focus on SMMEs: Develop a framework of wellness programmes based on the size of the SMME and the annual profit. Point them in the direction of where to access assistance.
– Communication and sector coordination: Provide contemporary information, Provincial strategies ensure coordination of the business sector and achieve alignment across sectors,
business representatives to sit on district and provincial aids councils, HIV & TB resources portal on the
internet
– Sectoral reporting tool: Lead by example – report. M&E should ideally include unique patient identifiers based on a national master index for effective referral and monitoring. Data to be collected
at company level and reported at industry and district level.
– Resource Mobilisation: both from international partners and private sector for a coordination mechanism at a sectoral level . SABCOHA uniquely positioned to effect this

– Mitigation on trucking corridors: Expand prevention and ART services on trucking routes to include commercial sex workers, neighbouring communities and
evaluate other feasible geographical sites
– Condom distribution in high traffic public areas: Condom dispensers or vending machines placed outside strategic points for increased access
– Private facilities, public drugs: Increase the scope of workplace and occupational health services to include distribution of chronic medicines supplied by
government and treatment management of chronic illnesses
