Financial matters:

The issue of SAQA’s irregular expenditure was raised.

Matter was addressed by the Board.

Investigation conducted, established that there was no fruitless and wasteful expenditure and the final sign-off was condoned.

Management met with Treasury regarding the process of procuring service providers for research-related work.

Staff matters:

What is SAQA’s plan to recruit more disabled people?

SAQA met the targets for number of disabled people.

What plans are in place for interns and work integrated learning for students?

SAQA on an annual basis have a take-in of 16 interns and learnership learners from 2011.

Misrepresented qualifications:

Many boards have members who have misrepresented qualifications. Public entities should verify qualifications through SAQA before board members are appointed.

Cabinet has made a decision in this regard and the NQF Amendment Bill will be addressing this issue.
