Lifelong learning (LLL) for members(Or: CPD - Continuing Professional Development)

Members shall undertake and record appropriate lifelong learning

and, on request, provide RICS with evidence that they have done so

RICS does not prescribe a set number of hours for lifelong learning.

It requires members’ lifelong learning to be effective, enabling them

to do their work competently. The outcome of the learning is more

important than the number of hours spent on it

RICS Red Book (RICS Appraisal and Valuation Standards)

Contains mandatory rules, best practice guidance and related

commentary for all RICS members undertaking valuations

Divided into two main parts:

• Rules and guidance applying to RICS members anywhere in the world and consistent with the International Valuation Standards

• Material relating specifically to particular countries (currently only for UK and the Republic of Ireland)

Plus: a related suite of Valuation Information Papers which discuss

valuation methodology as it relates to specific property types

• Responsible for taking appropriate action where RICS members or firms fall short of the expected standard

• Sanctions include:- fixed penalty notices such as fines- consent order through which a member or firm agrees with RICS how to put the problem right- disciplinary penalties up to and including expulsion from RICS

The APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) is

a period of structured practical training and

professional development that ends with the Final

Assessment and ensures that candidates joining RICS

are competent to practise as a chartered surveyors

Danske Byggeøkonomer Direct Entry – WHO?

Danske Byggeøkonomer members having successfully

completed the Danske Byggeøkonomer postgraduate

course, and having at least 10 years relevant professional

experience of which at least 5 years post graduation

Danske Byggeøkonomer Direct Entry – HOW?

• No RICS Final Assessment required

• Send CV using RICS CV template + proof of Danske Byggeøkonomer qualification to Mikael Wadsten on [email protected]

• Once approved by RICS, Mikael will request you to complete the admission form and return it with the appropriate payment

• Payment:- Library Obligation Fee (one time) 73.13 EUR- Entrance Fee (one time) 118.48 EUR- Annual subscription 365.68 EUR* (*1/1-31/12/2008 rate)
