SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES IN BUSINESSThe idea that companies should embrace its social responsibilities and not be solely focused on maximizing profits. Social responsibility entails developing businesses with a positive relationship to the society which they operate in. According to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), this relationship to the society and environment in which they operate is "a critical factor in their ability to continue to operate effectively. It is also increasingly being used as a measure of their overall performance."

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT ETHICS

Introduction to Management & society Social development is the main aim of any form of organization all over the world. Therefore, business has certain responsibility towards the society. Management are expected to follow the value of the society they work in. In India, everyone is competing for products and profits, but many org doesn’t fulfilling their responsibilities.

Meaning & Definition 0f Management & Social responsibility Management It means art or skills of directing human activities and physical resources in the attainment of predetermined goals. According to Henry Fayol, “To manage is to forecast and plan, to organize, to command, to coordinate, and control”. According to Louis Allen, “Management is what managers does in the organizations”.

Social Responsibility These are basic obligations of business organizations. These are described in terms of obligations of business towards the various interest groups. According to K.R. Andrews, “conceptually social responsibilities may be taken to mean intelligent and objective concern for the welfare of the society”.

a)As a field of study. b)As a behavioral pattern. According to Webster “Ethics is the discipline dealing with that which is good and bad and with moral and obligation”.

.Examples of Managerial Ethics

a) Give fair & equitable treatment to the employee.b) To charge fair weights for measurement of commodities.c) To charge fair prices from the customers.d) To pay tax to government & other bodies commonly.e) To earn reasonable profits.f) To become a good corporate citizen.

Nature of managerial Ethics

a)Business ethics are important in all types of business- large or small, manufacturing or services.

b) Its above law

c) Its dynamic term and may change over time

d) Systematic handling of values in business & industry

e) Specialized study of moral right or wrong.

f) It concentrated on moral standard as they apply to business policies, institutions and behavior.

Difference between Ethics & Social responsibilities.

•Ethics provide guidelines for human behavior in every field, whether organizational or non-organizational. BUT Social responsibilities works in organizational context. Thus, implication of ethics are much wider than those of social responsibility.

b) Ethics is concerned with micro aspect that is, relating to daily operating decisions with limited social impact. BUT Social responsibility is concerned with macro aspect relating to decisions with broad implications for a large segment of the society.
