Precision Agriculture and Biodiversity –

Motivations of Research

• Need for adoption of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI)

to facilitate and coordinate the exchange and sharing of

geospatial data among different organizations through

network technologies in the context of Biodiversity and

Precision Agriculture.

• A SDI provides a spatially enabled Service Oriented

Architecture (SOA) that uses Open Geoespatial

Consortium (OGC) stardardized interfaces to provide

access to webservices that deal with geopespatial

information (maps, sensors, files, etc.).

Precision Agriculture and Biodiversity –

Some Aspects Considered

• Easy interaction with maps;

• Easy composition of different sources of information;

• Static (through Enterprise Service Bus - ESB) and

Dynamic (through Web Processing Service - WPS)

Process Composition based on user selection of

deployed Webservices;

• Integration with Sensor Web Networks providing a

near-real-time aquisition of data;

• Use of a Business Process Driven SOA (BPEL, BPMN,

Workflows);

• Integration with Legacy Application Systems.
