• I chose to analyse this film trailer because it’s a popular fantasy action and I thought it may be able to provide me with some interesting ideas I could transfer into my own trailer.

• The dialogue ‘Ready to play God?’. Bold statement, creates intrigue, audience know wonders how Peter will utilise his newly found power.

• The finishing statement is presumably designed to leave the audience with something to think about, ‘We all have secrets, the one’s we keep, and the one’s that are kept from us’. This provokes at the audience sense of intrigue. It’s also an ambiguous ending… what secrets are being kept? This statement allows the trailer to successfully finish on a cliff-hanger.

• The Spiderman trailer appeals to a wide audience, regardless to the amount of prior background knowledge an individual understands simply because of what it is… ‘Spiderman’ is more or less a worldwide concept.

• The fantasy genre has been conveyed most clearly through shots such as when Peter proceeds to pull out (what the audience can only assume to be) a spiders web from the back of his neck, continuing, there are then shots of Peter leaping from building to building and climbing/crawling across vertical walls.

• The use of font stays true to the traditional Spiderman font, although there is minimal inclusion of it – the title, ‘Spiderman’ and the date appear at the end of the trailer (after the music has thudded and Spiderman makes contact with the window) presumably so the audience doesn’t forget what it is Columbia pictures want them to see.

• This trailer is effective as it places a focus upon Sandler, who is renowned for being funny. This trailer displays him within his element. There is also inclusion of funny scenes within the trailer, for example, when ‘Todd’ (Sandler’s son in the film) steps out the shower and reveals a ‘New kids on the block’ tattoo, in which the artist’s has ‘warped heads’ – which causes Sandler to laugh, and has a knock on effect with the audience.

• The main UPM for this film is that Adam Sandler stars in it.

• The initial music is completely misguiding for the film, it’s melodic and gentle, the intertitles which accompany the beginning music initially seem as equally as innocent, ‘Everyone has a teenage crush’…. ‘Donny’s just went too far’ – then it’s revealed that a young teenage boy has gotten his teacher pregnant – who is then arrested. The beat is then becomes more suitable as it becomes much more upbeat throughout the clip.

• When presenting intertitles, the ‘IMPACT’ font is included, this specific font is particularly bold and aims to attract attention.

• The first thing that I noticed whilst watching this trailer was the music which accompanied it, it provokes a sense of empowerment and majesty, the actual imagery in the trailer is equally as dramatic, and provides an element of passion.

• The trailer reveals enough of the storyline to entice the audience, it is understood that Anna Karenina ( who – from the trailer seems to be in a position of importance, and always within the public eye, which presumably is why she was married off to Alexei Alexandrovich Karenin - a high-ranking government minister ) which therefore makes the affair between Karenina (Knightley) and the affluent Count Vronsky’ even more outrageous, and therefore more entertaining for the audience – the trailer successfully portrays an element of shock. … (Enough of the storyline to entice the audience) but it doesn’t reveal too much to give the whole story away, the audience are aware that an affair between particularly prestigious individuals is happening, but aren’t made aware of the consequences – which serves well as a cliff hanger

• The genre is mostly established through dialogue, there is speech accompanying scenes as well as the music which help to tell the story. Although there are some scenes in which the genre is quite obvious, such as the intimate scene shared between Knightley and Johnson.

• Another important factor surrounding this trailer is the actors who are in it, they are all undoubtedly A Class Celebrities; Keira Knightley, Jude Law and Aaron Johnson – which of course this also assist in enticing a wide audience.
