HT switch board operation is very important and critical for any power distribution. The operation, control and protection of this system should be highly reliable, accurate and un interrupted.

Hence, these switch boards are operated on DC supply powered by battery bank, backed up by float and boost battery chargers..

VVVF DRIVES

VVVF Drives are used where speed control, torque control or position control of the driven equipment are required. There are 52nos VVVF drives installed in each furnace. Capacity of these drives varies from 10KVA to 1230KVA.

Application of VVVF Drives

Speed Control—Vibro feeders, Conveyors.Position Control – Rotation and Tilting DrivesTorque Control – Stock Level Indicators,

Cranes, ConveyorsSOFT STARTERSSoft starters are used achieve smooth starting and stopping of the equipment. This will also avoid load fluctuation. Soft starters are used in conveyors, hydraulic pumps of mud gun & drilling machines etc.

Resistance temperature detector (RTD) RTD ’s are used for temperature measurement up to 200Deg C. ‘K’ TYPE THERMOCOUPLE ‘K’ type thermocouples are used for the temperature measurement between 200 Deg to 900 Deg c ‘S’ TYPE THERMOCOUPLE ‘S’ type thermocouples are used for the temperature measurement between 900 Deg C to 1400 Deg c. Mainly used in stove dome and hot blast line RADIATION PYROMETERS Pyrometers are non contact type sensors used for high temperature measurement from 600 to 1600 Deg C. All these sensors are connected through smart temperature transmitter

RIO PANEL• The remote input/output panel consists 1.Digital input cards 2.Digital output cards 3.Analog input card 4.Analog output card 5.Interface module All the signals form the field instruments/ equipments are measured by these cards are transferred to the interface module.

• The interface module is the communication link between I/O cards and PLC which communicates through either optical fiber cable or twisted pair cable

SERVER AND CLIENT AND ENGINEERING STATION

• Server and client configuration is used when the system is large and operators are more.• As the name suggests server is a link between operator station (client) and PLC. All the requests generated by the operator from operator station are routed through the server and results of the requests are stored in the server. The operator station fetches these results and displays.• Another important function of Server is data storage. (trends data, alarms etc).• Generally both servers and client are desktop PC loaded with the GUI software• Server uses well known high speed Ethernet communication protocol for communication with PLC and client• Engineering station is used to develop logic or software for PLC and diagnostic services of the PLC, Server and operator station
