• It is very dangerous for pedestrian (especially students and silver citizens), to walk on the Brigade Avenue Road on Magnolia – MLR side, since the Road and drain covers are at same level, in front of India Music Experience Centre.

• Chain snatching incidents have occurred on this Road• On a stretch of 300 M, there are four gaps in median, prompting two wheelers to

drive on wrong side of the Road, causing accident zones, especially for pedestrians. U-turns during peak hours add to traffic snarls.

Power of Teamwork


• BM Swachhaagrahis have already conducted one Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan on 28th Dec’15, commended by Ministry of Urban Development, as a case study.

• Based on our representation to Municipal Corporator, BBMP is in the process of approving Rs One crore for rectifying all defects on the Roads and pavements;

• Discussed with one gawala his problems and ways and means to take the cows of all gawalas to some safe place;

• A proposal has been submitted to a Bank to sponsor planting of flowering saplings, turfing and fencing the Medians on either side of Brigade signal.

• Discussions with The Ugly Indian have taken place, to find a solution for keeping our surroundings clean;

• A Memorandum has been submitted to the Traffic Police to decongest traffic on Brigade Avenue Road, punish traffic violations, improve watch and ward.

Accomplishments of BM Swachhaagraha Group so far


Children, Youth and Elders of Brigade Millenniumconducted a Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan on 28th Dec ‘14


1. Provide a solution for cleanliness on a sustained basis in the model Swachh zone, in consultation with Dustbin Vendor, BBMP and Traffic Police;2. Educate Shopkeepers and Ensure Pledge;3. Ensure that BBMP repairs the Roads and pavements, installs dividers between Roads and Pavement;4. Find Govt./ private land for Cooperative Goshalas/ Cow Hostels, to save cows from accidents; 5. Decongest Traffic on Brigade Avenue Road.

There is a kucha Road, between MLR Convention Centre and Akarshan (Krishna Raju Garden), by the side of Puttenahalli Lake’. This Road can be widened and paved by BBMP; Krishna Raju Garden is at present on the Road coming from L&T South City going up to SLV Refreshment Centre (at Kothnur Road Jn.). This Road is parallel to Brigade Avenue Road;Traffic going to Kothnur Road side can be diverted, to the Road connecting MLR –Krishna Raju Garden - Balan Farm – SLV Refreshment Centre.

6. Plant flowering saplings, turfing and fencing of the two medians on either side of BM Traffic Signal. Accidents due to stray cows will be prevented. The Area will look aesthetically appealing.

7. Install CCTVs at vulnerable points, to deter, detect and punish traffic violators, eve teasers, chain snatchers, illegal and suspicious activities, etc.;

8. Install additional Street Lights, where necessary

9. Explore plying battery powered e-Carts for School bags, for walkable distances, to and fro Schools – homes, to reduce vehicular traffic, noise and air pollution;

10. Prepare feasibility Report for foot over sky bridge on the two Roads in the model Swachh zone.

11. Coordinate with other gated communities and RWAs, to seek cooperation and particpation in making the model swachh zone;

[A] Shram Daan: Join periodic Swachh Bharat Abhiyaans, educate one and all about the importance of Swachh Bharat by setting an example, picking up garbage, dumping it in dustbins, when walking on the streets, etc.;

[B] Samaya Daan: Brain-storm and plan activities, take leadership role in follow up with BBMP, Traffic Police, BESCOM, BDA, KSPCB, political leaders, NGOs, Corporates, Banks, liaise with other gated communities, RWAs, neighbourhood shops, etc.;

[C] Dhan Daan: Make Project specific Voluntary contributions, when sought, as per your own Shraddha, no compulsion, no competition with others’ contributions.

What you can do and should do


• Swachh Bharat is not a fad or a slogan

• It changes mind set

• It changes our lifestyle

• Swachhta (Cleanlliness) becomes a habit

• Waste management generates economic activity

• It can create lakhs of swachhta entrepreneurs

• The nation gets identified with cleanliness

• It has a huge impact on health

• Diarrhoea and other diseases cannot be fought without swachhta

• New age mantra should be swachhagraha, like Satyagraha

• The warriors will be Swachhagrahis, like satyagrahis
