December 30, 2018 Feast of the Holy Family
Dear parishioners:
Calendars will be handed out on New Year’s Day. Note the
abbreviated mass schedule: 10:30 English and 12 noon Spanish.
Our tithe each week in Christmas is for the building of a house in Haiti for
a very poor family. Floor plan is on the board. Cross Catholic heads this
up. Please help us!
The Christmas Ornament Drive continues. It will fund our scholarship
program for the coming academic yr. We gave away $25,000 this yr.
Response is good so far this yr. We received a $10,000 gift recently!
No classes are held this weekend. Remember all parents and students
resume class after the Christmas break on Jan. 5th&6th. The materials in
English and Spanish are posted each week on the parish web site:
presentationdenver.org. We have a Confirmation project for the older
students. Keep working on your project!!!!
Families asking for infant baptism must make sure that godparents (padrinos) are married in the church and are confirmed. Parents must be registered in the parish. Call Deacon Pablo for preparation class. Starting January, we will run one per month on the second Wednesday evening 6 p.m. Spanish; 7:30 p.m. in English. Call the parish office: 303-534-4882 x117 to register.
Marriage preparation: please see us 8 months before your marriage. Classes: Holy Family Church on Monday nights from 6:30-9:00 p.m. on January 8, 15, 22 & 29. The cost is $185 per couple. Register at www.catholicmarriageprep.com.
Quinceaneras celebrations will be scheduled through the parish only. The girl and her escorts must be baptized and confirmed to do these celebrations. No exceptions!! They also need to take a 4 class workshop at St. Joseph Church, located at 6th and Galapago offered by Endow. Join Formed.org. You can register on our parish website. The books and films are free to all parishioners. If you missed the Christmas gift from the parish and there are books left they ae available to you.
May the Infant Savior bless our Families!

Catholic Reformation” by logging into

Next weekends’ tithe will be for the
Retirement Fund for Religious. Here
are some interesting facts about this tithe:
• In 1988, Catholic bishops of the United
States launched the Retirement Fund for
Religious (RFR) to address the significant lack
of retirement funding for Catholic sisters,
brothers, and priests in religious orders.
• For most of their lives, elder religious
worked for little to no pay. There were no 401
(k) plans or pensions.
• Religious communities are financially
responsible for the support and care of all
members. Income, earnings, and expenses are
managed separately from the parish and
diocesan structures of the Catholic Church.
• The funding shortage is compounded by
rising healthcare costs and decreased income.
And, as more religious reach retirement age
and leave compensated ministry, income will
further decline while care needs increase.
• By 2028, religious past age 70 are projected
to outnumber religious under age 70 by more
than three to one.
• There are 31,000 religious past age 70 living
in the United States. In 2017, the average
annual cost for their care was almost $44,000
per person.
• Since 2009, the annual cost to support senior
women and men religious has exceeded $1
billion.
• In 2017, 68 percent of the religious
communities providing data to the National
Religious Retirement Office (NRRO) had a
median age of 70 or higher.
• The average annual Social Security benefit
for a religious is $6,453.45, while the average
U.S. beneficiary receives $16,849.80.
• Catholics in the United States have donated
more than $844 million to the RFR since the
first appeal
• Roughly 94 percent of donations to the RFR
aid elder religious, with the remainder used to
administer the funds and promote the appeal.

Lord Jesus Christ, Good Shepherd of your Church, In your mercy come to the aid of your
people, burdened by the weight of sin and tribulation. Please heal the victims and those
suffering. Purify your Church of sin and scandal. Make her radiant in the Spirit of
your holiness. Bring good out of the evil that has been done. Guide her and your
shepherds in the ways of renewal. Mary, our loving Mother, pray for us. Walk with us.
Hold our hand through this valley of darkness. Through all this, lead us closer to the
Father through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
