What is Healthy people 2010

Healthy People 2010, started in January 2000 by the United StatesDepartment of Health and Human Services, is a nationwide health

promotion and disease prevention plan to be achieved by the year2010.

Healthy People 2010 "was developed through a broad consultation

process, built on the best scientific knowledge and designed tomeasure programs over time. It is composed of 467 specificobjectives organized into 28 focus areas, as well as goals .

The 2 Main Goal Of Healthy People 2010

Goal 1: Increase Quality and Years of Healthy Life

The first goal of Healthy People 2010 is to help individuals of all agesincrease life expectancy and improve their quality of life.

Goal 2: Eliminate Health Disparities

The second goal of Healthy People 2010 is to eliminate healthdisparities among different segments of the population.

are being gathered from 190 sources.Ten "Leading Health Indicators" reflect major health concerns

Disadvantages of Healthy People 2010

Even thought Healthy People 2010 has been recognized as afuture healthy plan, from current research, its still lack incertain area .

Healthy People 2010, not mention people living with

disability, people from culturally and linguisticallydiverse backgrounds.

There is also diversity in terms of where people live.

Healthy People 2010 does not acknowledge the differing issues

facing people and communities in rural and remote communitiesboth in terms of health issues and lack of affordable andaccessible transport, difficulties in recruiting and keeping healthstaff and lack of affordable and accessible health services.
