How did we appeal to the age group?

• The first question air results showed that most people who tuck interest in our film were aged 11-20 (86%)

• In our planning and production of the film we tried to appeal to this age group by using a young cast. I think this would make the film more appealing to the audience because its easier to relate to someone your own age.

• Most of our audience responses were from collage students. By giving the film a 15 certificate we have made the film appropriate for the majority of the audience.

• We used different camera angles and fast cuts to make the film look more interesting, we hoped this would make it generally more appealing to a younger audience as stereotypically young people like ‘thrill and action’.

What other ways did we appeal to the target audience?

• Gender: the main character in the film is a male and the main scene location is his room. The room wasn’t predominantly masculine or feminine as we weren't aiming to reach a specific gender. However the initial question air results there were proportionally more female responses. To ensure we appealed to the larger part of are audience we used more female actors and made sure the antagonist (arguably the lead role) was played by a female actor.

• Regional Identity: almost all of the responses said they lived or are from south Yorkshire and as this is were are film is set.

Have we been successful addressing the audience?

• I think we have been successful as people gave mostly a 4 or 5 rating for the editing techniques and music choices.

• We received many positive reviews such as:• 'I think you have used a variety of different

shots to make it more interesting, especially when the boy goes up the stairs.

• ''Nice camera work! Expertly done!‘• I think we have appealed to horror fans by

trying to stick to horror conventions. All of the question air responses said they would like to see the rest of the film

Could we have improved

• We got the lowest ratings when asking about the lighting used. I think this was because in the first scene the room is very bright and it doesn’t fit in with typical horror conventions.

• one of the audience responses was 'Good but sometimes their heads were cut-off.’I think to combat this we could have set up the camera better and used more camera angles in the first scene this would have allowed the audience to feel more involved in the film.
