• Created by the Government of Minas Gerais in August of 2004.
• A Public-Private unit for the development of Minas Gerais International Business.
• With the support of the private sector it aims to expand opportunities to insert the State’s products in international markets.
• Areas:

• Record level in 2008: US$ 24.4 billion, despite the sharp drop in the fourth quarter.
• 2009: Breaking of the continued growth in the period of 2003-2008.
• Still, it builds up growth of 162% since 2003
• 2009: imports reduced more than exports (30% versus 20% )
• MG remains the largest balance and the country’s second largest exporter.
• Flow of trade surpassed US$34.8 billion in 2008, and was around US$27 billion in 2009.

• There was continued growth between 2003 and 2008, and reduction of imports in 2009.
• 2009: Retraction of 30% in relation to 2008. The last 6 years build up growth in imported value of 202%.

• High dependence on products with characteristic of ”commodities” with low differentiation and/or added value.
CONTEXT
• China has established itself as the leading partner for exports.
• European Union loses position as the main destination region for China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
3. Increase business with non-traditional markets (Middle East, South America, Asia, Africa).
4. Diversify our business with China particularly.
5. Maintain exports to countries in economic downturn.
