Reservoir Leasing Policy.
• The leasing policy adopted by the State Government vide its Resolution dated 25th February 2004 has the following provisions:
• Reservoir up to 20 Ha earmarked for FFDA beneficiaries.
• Reservoir up to 200 Ha in Saurashtra and North Gujarat Districts are earmarked for FFDA.
• BPL Co -op Societies /SGSY groups are given price concession against highest bid in leasing of reservoirs.
• Local co operative societies and SGSY are given preference in the leasing policy.
• Last six years water spread area of reservoir is considered for computing the effective water spread area of the reservoir and up set price is calculated accordingly.

• The duration of Lease shall be for 5 years initially and is extendable up to aMaximum period of 10 years.Tribal Areas:
• Water sheets in the Tribal Areas shall be reserved for individual tribalfishermen (up to 20 ha.), their co-operatives (21 to 1000 ha). Reservoirs above1000 ha. to the federation of tribal co-operatives/local tribal co-operatives.
• Non-tribal Areas:• All water sheets above 200 ha. shall be leased out inviting tenders to the
highest bidder
Village pond Fisheries
• Village ponds are very good resource to undertake effective fish culture which can generate employment at village level.
• The State Government has formulated a policy on 15.7.2003. to lease out village ponds for a period of 10 years.
• As per the new policy village ponds of concerned District are to be auctioned by DDO by inviting tender.
• Assistance as per the FFDA pattern is extended to the fish farmers and the revenue realized will be allocated to the concerned village panchayat.
• Village panchayat can utilize it for other developmental activities of the village.

Brackish water Land Lease Policy( Revenue Dept)
• LEASE PERIOD FOR 20 YEARS IN THE FIRST INSTANCE• AND EXTENDABLE FOR ANOTHER 20 YEARS.• Lease Rent @ Rs. 250/= per ha for the first three years ,• which will be doubled from Forth year onwards for individual• beneficiaries up to 5 Ha• Lease rent @ Rs 1000 /- per Ha for more than 5 ha up to• three years which will be doubled from fourth year onwards.• Individual beneficiary entitled for 5 ha ,cooperatives – 50 ha• and Industrial houses- 100 ha.• (contd)

• Dist. Collectors empowered to sanction up to 5 Ha to individual prawn farmer, for Coop.
• societies limit is up to 50 Ha .
• State Govt. can sanction more than 50 Ha.
• Lessee can not be sub-leased or land can not be transferred.
• Lessee can mortgage the land to Nationalized banks and other Govt.
• approved financial institutions to avail loans for aquaculture activities.

Fishing Vessels Registration Software
• For Nationwide Unique Identity of the fishing vessels, CentralGovernment has decided to launch a Boat Registration Software.
• NIC Unit has developed “ReaL Craft” software and successfullylaunched this software nationwide.
• Necessary hardware regarding this software are installed in thedistrict offices of the Fisheries Department.
• As per software, the data entry of boat registration work is going onand this work will be finished before April – 2011.
Fisherman Identity Card
• For Nationwide Unique Identity of the fisherman, CentralGovernment has decided to issue unique fisherman identity card facedwith primary information and embedded microchip with secret
• virtual data to serve the purpose of National Security in most strictmanner.
• State has completed the collection of data and biometric details also.
• 128545 data has been verified and sent to BEL for card production.
• The Police verification of 70000 fishermen are completed.
Boat Movement token system
• For effective control and monitoring on movement of fishing vessels and tokeep keen watch on onshore activities State has deployed 257 fisheries guard at102 fish landing centers.
• They issues the Boat Movement Token to the ongoing fishing boats for fishing.• This token indicates the Name / Nos. of crew, date of departure and arrival
from and to the concerned fish landing centre, fuel etc.• This authentic information helps the National Securities like Navy, Coast guard
etc. on their offshore checking.• State has decided to computerize the present manual token issuing work for making
more effective, more secure, time saving and to provide online assistance to theNational Securities.
