Introduction & Background

The BHUDRH places approximately 430 students from across multiple universities and multiple disciplines into multiple host sites in Far West and Western NSW Rationale: To provide a structured IPL opportunity for

students undertaking their clinical fieldwork experience in Far Western NSW

Target Group: Undergraduate students from the disciplines of medicine, nursing, social work, physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy

Aim & Methods

Aims Develop, deliver and evaluate IPL workshops

Provide a supportive learning environment

Enhance undergraduate knowledge on team care and IPL care planning

Explore quality person centred care as part of IPL

Methods

3 Stage program – Generic Case Scenario Stage 1 – Wk 1 Discipline Specific Groups – Care Planning Stage 2 – Wk 2 Report care plan – Create IPL groups and revisit Care Plan Stage 3 – Wk 3 Presentations of integrated care plans

Results

Participants – Medicine n=4, Nursing n=4, Social Work n= 4, Physiotherapy n=4, Occupational Therapy n= 4 (Total n=20)

Positive change in attitude of participants and roles of others ‘Is that what Social Workers do!’’

Silo approaches already exist (Undergraduate level)

Capacity to condense program to 3 days Develop individual team case scenarios – enhance

engagement Divide groups into IPL teams at completion of Stage
