TITLE DEVELOPING THE LISTENING SKILL OF THE EIGHT GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP FRATER PAREPARE BY USING AUDIOVISUAL LEARNING SOFTWARE

BACKGROUNDIn SMP FRATER PAREPARE especially for the eight grade, the researcher found that the skill of students in listening is still low. We can see the mean score of the students in listening skill is 55 score rate, this categories by DIKNAS 2005 as a poor achievement.

Problem statement Does audiovisual learning software can develop the listening skill of the eighth year student of SMP Frater Parepare ?

Objective of the researchThe objective of research is to investigate the role of audio-visual learning software in developing the listening skill of the eighth grade student of SMP Frater Parepare.

Theoretical frameworkThe students listening skill is still low.Teaching listening skill by using audiovisual learning software in experimental class and without using audiovisual learning software in control class.

Population and sample1. POPULATIONThe population of the research is the eight grade student of SMP FRATER Parepare which consists of 2 classes: VIII1 and VIII2.VIII1 = 30 studentsVIII2 = 32 studentsTotal of population is 62 students.2. SAMPLEClass VIII1 as Experimental Class Class VIII2 as Control Class

VARIABLE OF THE RESEARCH1. DEPENDENT VARIABLEThe dependent variable is the students listening skill.2. INDEPENDENT VARIABLEThe independent variable is the using of audiovisual learning software.

PROCEDURE IN COLLECTING DATA1. Pre-test Pre-test is test which given before the treatments apply to find out the students prior knowledge before presenting the material or treatment.2. Post-test Post-test is test is which given after all of the treatments are apply to know how far the students comprehension that is acquired after teaching learning.
