• Design brief: There is a band that needs your help to make it to the big time. They have no idea how to promote themselves and they have employed you to make them famous. They are counting on your to help them make it to the top.

Introduction

• My client is the band named FTIsland. The problem starts from their debut, they are not really talented singer and musicians. Even though they have improved, people still feel that they are not serious. I think their entertainment values is only their good looks. But they improved a lot.

• Throughout the quarter, I am going to design and create a band promotion. In order to create a successful band promotion, I have to go through the process of investigating, designing, planning, creating, and evaluating. I will research this band through their official website, other related websites, and comments from band fans. My designs and ultimately my final product will be based on this research.

AOI

• This project relates to the human ingenuity area of interaction. Human ingenuity “explores in multiple ways the processes and products of human creativity, thus learning to appreciate and develop in themselves the human capacity to influence, transform, enjoy and improve the quality of life.” I will be learning about the different ways to promote a band and will learn to create a band promotion that will influence others to start following and popularizing the band. Therefore, our of the five areas of interaction, I believe this project best relates to human ingenuity.

Summary of Case Study

• I found three ways to promote FTIsland. I mainly focused in promoting FTIsland to the World. So there were the poster, video and website. I can find the wrongs of planning through write case study. It made me to think about how i will make or what materials we need or guess about the results with my plans for poster, video and website. The case study will help me to have good ideas when I am going to make 6 designs.

Reporter: All of you are so young. How do you assure yourself to stay firm when dealing with fame, popularity and

wealth?Seunghyun: Exercising. It helps mentally.

Reporter: There are many idol boy bands in the Korean music industry right now. What do you think is your unique point and how are you different from the other groups?Hongki: We don't dance. We know how to compose and we can play the instruments. That is our special point.Jaejin: Yes. That is the biggest difference. Other groups sing what people compose for them and they do not play the

instruments themselves. But we compose, perform and sing the songs ourselves.

Summary of DesignDesign 1 : It’s a poster to promote the band to the people who passes street or attached via the Net.It has an attractive image to catch people’s attention and to provide information about the concert. But It doesn’t give the location. People find that out for themselves.

Design 2 : It’s a poster promoting FTIsland’s concert. It has an attractive picture and title. But there is no

location or ticket price. I promote people to inquire about ticket prices by mail “Ticket is really cheap”.

Design 3 : This is a websites to promote FTIsland. It is easy to navigate to open and look information about FTIsland. It’s easy way to get information. It’s a way to get close to other FTIsland fans and FTIsland

members. But the design isn’t very attractive.

Design 4 :It’s a website to show FTIsland. It has an attractive picture and good details about them. It is easy to navigate. But It doesn’t much information.

Design 5 : This is a story board video clip. It’s an amusing ,interesting video. But it would affect the image

Summary of Investigation

• I researched FTIsland and I’ve found a lot of information about them and their fan comments, so people will read a lot of information about them and get interested. And I research good sources that will help to promote FTIsland.

• The interview helps us to know their thoughts and their personalities.

• We plan our designs in case study. So we will get many good ideas and prepare for making good designs.

• Through step specification I found out what is the best design and I could compare it with other designs. So we can improve on poorer designs next time.

Evaluation of the Plan• In your plan smart?

• My plan is SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, fits the time frame). The step by step was specific so reader will easily know how to make a poster and got an idea to make better poster. The steps show the software(material) to make a poster.

• Does the plan seem to be in logical steps?

• Yes it does because it shows every steps and gives arrows to tell the steps to make a poster.

• Modifications to the design

• Poster is a only simple design. I chose this design because I want easy design and it’s a my first design project. If I got a chance to make the design, I want to make a video as my design

• Concluding the Evaluation of my step by step plan.

• Better I have more decorations of my poster so I will find more applications and decorations next time.

Evaluating My Performance at each stage of the Design Cycle

• Investigation-This is the first step of the design cycle so I thought how I would make a good design to promote band. I found sources about FTIsland from social media and their public website because I thought that is the easiest way to know about them. This step helped me to think about the product that I‘m going to make.

• Design-I made 6 designs to promote FTIsland. They are requirements from the teacher. Actually they are too many and have to think a lot. There are 3 type of designs which are poster, video clip and websites. The poster was the easiest design for me. After I finished my designs, I evaluated them specifically so I could choose the best design for me by scoring the designs.

• Plan-I’ve made step by step to show how I made a poster. It was clear and easy to understand because I showed the steps specifically. I evaluated again about this step, I knew what I have to improve and the weakness of my step by step part.

• Create- For the create stage i done my poster. And i made poster about the concert that are going to be held on October 5 2011. and i put photos and information about FT. Island. Actually I was lazy to make the poster because I should make it everyday. Making a poster was easy for me so my steps were not so many and take little time so I wanted to try the other design.

• Evaluation- I evaluated all the steps so I could know what I’ve improved and what i’ve learn from this project.

Successful PointI think Design stage was the most successful part because I got many ideas for my designs and chose the best design by specification and evaluated them. So I found that poster was the best design for me so when plan stage and creation stage, i chose poster as my product.Least Successful Point I think Creation stage was the least successful part of my project because it was too simple. It took very short time to finish the product so I didn’t feel any Actually I want to make a video clip when I saw my friends working on that design but it was too late for me to start. ProblemsI had some misunderstanding in this project so there are some mistakes. There are many wrongs in grammar because my english is so bad so I have to improve my english skills.

Modification/improvements-When we make a poster, we have to give complete informations and good decorations.Client FeedbackThe poster of FTIsland’s concert attracted people by using a nice picture and exact information. The people will interest in concert by looking a poster. Women love the beautiful boys so the charming picture of FTIsland make many women to come to concert. It’s going to publish on the streets, in front of buildings and the others so the people who passed could see the poster. It’s going to affect the numbers of audience by how we promote them.The impact on the Society and the EnvironmentSociety- This poster will help my clients to know the informations about the concert. The concert is going to be famous by words of mouth after people saw the poster. If we see the poster, it’s easy to remember and I feel like want to watch the concert.Environment- We only need the application that make a poster and the paper. We have to insert good decorations(picture,shapes etc) by using a application. It’s done after printed and it’s not hard to make a poster.
