TOMELLOSO

Tomelloso is a town in the province of Ciudad Real. It has a population of about 40.000 inhabitants.

There´re a service industries quite consolidated, the economy based on the production of wine is very important: its growing, elaboration and marketing.

As the population is quite young, there are many primary and secondary schools. Our center has 79 students in kindergarten, 148 in primary and 16 teachers.

Our project “Healthy Europe through ICT” aims to promote a healthy way of life. The objectives are to finish with children obesity, the bad food habits and the lack of physical exercise using ICT as resource.

We will study healthy nutrition at schools and teach healthy eating to our students, with a view to establishing good practice in acquiring healthy habits (nutrition and physical activity).

The first year is dedicated to awareness among children and their families of the importance of a healthy eating. Pupils will put into practice a healthy breakfast avoiding sweets, industrial pastries and saturated fats. They will know different kind of meals, the food pyramid and a good diet. They will learn the relationship between physical activity and health encouraging the practice of popular games as opposed to videogames.

The second year is dedicated to the production of a follow up notebook of eating and physical activity, to analyze the treatment of the media about the healthy life.

Palermo is located in the northwest of the island of Sicily. Palermo is Sicily´s cultural, economic and touristic capital. It´s a city rich in history, culture, art, music and food. The population of Palermo urban area is around 855.285 inhabitants.

"Carmelo Maneri" Primary school is located in Palermo. The students are 6-11 years old. A quarter has a composite social structure: traders, artisans and workers. There are many unemployed people that live with a sometimes irregular activity.

Strawczyn is a village in Kielce County, in south-central Poland. It is the seat of the gminia (administrative district) called Gmina Strawczyn. The village has a population of 1000.

THE SCHOOL

Primary School in Korczyn is located in one of the poorest regions in Poland. There are about 100 pupils learning in our school and most of them come from families with low socioeconomic status.

TURKEY

Izmir is the third most populous city in Turkey. The city of Izmir had a population of 3.401.994.

THE SCHOOL

They have 45 teachers and 950 pupils in their primary school. Their pupils are 6 to 14 years old. The school has been giving education since 1966. Although their school is located in the center of Izmir, they have students from all over Turkey and different cultures of Turkey, which means that they have migrations from every part of Turkey.

In this project we work together to improve eating and sport habits in our students using information and communication technologies.
