Molas, Kuna culture from sharing the territory of Colombia and Panama, are decorative apparelfabrics, worked backwards with the technique called applied embroidery, colorful textilesmade with different colors.Molas, traditionally worked by the women of the Kuna community, not only are different andunique clothes. Molas are a philosophy, a tradition preserved. In them, women wear life and theysink into the earth, when death comes.The molas art reflects not only a great naturalist and artistic knowledge, but also profoundrepresentations of a culture very original.Molas are made by hand and contain two or more layers of fabric cut and sewn one another inways from the world that surrounds this community.
Origin of MolasThe origin of the mola comes from body painting (tattoo) which was then transferred to thefabric. Molas represent the cosmogonic thought, a graphical view of the world full of colors andmeanings anthropomorphic and zoomorphic.
According to the worldview of the Kuna, was the creator of the universe of indigenousBabdummad who gave his people the beautiful fabrics which are reflected in their views, flora andfauna.
