RedIRIS offers a high-capacity communications backbone network known as REDIRIS-NOVA to its affiliated institutions, providing them with access to both the worldwide research Intranet and to the global Internet. RedIRIS also offers other connectivity-related services such as IPv4 and IPv6
routing and multicast content distribution, among others. www.rediris.es/servicios/conectividad/

RedIRIS offers member institutions high-capacity end-to-end optical circuits (10 Gbps lightpaths) and virtual circuits for connecting groups located in different geographical locations as if they were on the same network. www.rediris.es/servicios/redes_privadas/

RedIRIS places tools at the disposal of its affiliated institutions in order to help improve their email quality. Highlights include reputation list management of IP addresses to help reduce spam, and a centralised spam filtering platform ("Washing machine"). www.rediris.es/servicios/calidad_correo/

RedIRIS digital identity services simplify access of affiliated institutions' users to different online services by means of mechanisms that allow for flexible data exchange in accordance with the strictest privacy and security standards. Highlights include SIR (digital identity federation) and IRIS-SARA services. www.rediris.es/servicios/identidad/

RedIRIS, through its eduroam.es service, allows members of scientific and academic centres to directly access WiFi networks of similar centres in Spain and in many countries abroad by using their credentials of their centre of origin. www.rediris.es/servicios/movilidad/
RedIRIS Services Mobility
12
One of the fundamental aims of RedIRIS is to promote collaboration between researchers. To this end, RedIRIS offers affiliated institutions a collaborative repository and email distribution lists so that users with common interests can exchange information quickly and efficiently. www.rediris.es/servicios/colaboracion/

13
RedIRIS has a team of experts that oversees the security of your network and the communications that take place through it. It also offers security certificates and advises institutions on security issues. www.rediris.es/servicios/seguridad/

RedIRIS provides technical support to affiliated institutions for issues related to management of communications networks, monitoring of services, network monitoring tools, equipment and network security, installation and use of systems, or any other issue related to RedIRIS's activity. www.rediris.es/servicios/soporte_instituciones/

RedIRIS undertakes various measures aimed at disseminating information about its activity and services among members of its community. To this end, it organises courses and specialised events such as Working Groups or Technical Conferences which bring together over 400 representatives of its member institutions annually. Furthermore, RedIRIS edits publications and disseminates information regarding its services through its website (www.rediris.es), is present on social networks (Facebook and Twitter) and sends a periodic online newsletter (RedIRIS e-newsletter).

RedIRIS Services
Promotion
16
RedIRIS – Developing our services portfolio • Improvement of existing services
o New version of our digital identity federation, SIR2, using SAML protocol and facilitating eduGAIN integration
o Re-launch of FTP service
o Monitoring service with new tools available to institutions
o Autolist
• Development of new services
o DDos filtering (trial)
o Filesender (trial)
o High-speed data transfer (trial) currently based on commercial software – we’d like to use open-source community-based solution
o E-mail (trial) -> Difficulty to launch pay-per-use services
o E-administration services (mainly developed for Universities)
o Cloud services based on GÉANT procurement?
17
RedIRIS – eAdministration services
Cooperation agreement with the Spanish Conference of Universities (CRUE). Universities have specific demands of centralized services for eAdministration and proactively approached RedIRIS to ask for support
• IRIS-SARA – Access through RedIRIS to the Spanish National Administrative Network (Red SARA) – and to the e-administration services it provides
• Centralized back-up of administrative services in RedIRIS premises – digital identity (cl@ve, @Firma), interoperability (NISUE - Spanish Node for Interoperability of University data)
• Integration of SIR & Office365
• Other services under definition with CRUE
18
RedIRIS – Cloud services
• Challenging and highly relevant in RedIRIS strategy, aligned with EU &
GÉANT (European Cloud Initiative – ECI: European Open Science Cloud – EOSC + European Data Infrastructure - EDI) o Integration with aspects such as authentication and security
o RedIRIS: ICT neutral supplier of the academic and scientific sector, with capacity to add demand (possibly centralized purchase)
o Transfer to Spain of the activity developed in this field by GÉANT (educational discounts from big cloud providers, centralized IaaS tender just available, …)
• RedIRIS already provides some cloud services (eg washing machine), and has others in trial (eg IRIS-Mail)
• Need to validate contractual and administrative items
o For services directly provided by RedIRIS, applying pay-per-use basis
o For those tendered by GÉANT, if they can simply be transferred to institutions affiliated with RedIRIS, as is being done in other countries
o If any issue is identified, make changes that allow it to be overcome
