US Navy USS America LHA-6: The LHA-6 is the first of the America-class amphibious assault ships for the U.S. Navy. Her mission is to act as the flagship of an expeditionary strike group or amphibious ready group, carrying part of a Marine expeditionary unit into battle and putting them ashore with helicopters and V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft, supported by F-35B Lightning II aircraft and helicopter gunships. US Navy AN-UYQ-65 System: DRS chose Nova Electric as the exclusive Rugged UPS System supplier for the AN/UYQ-65 Data Processing and Display Set, the U.S. Navy's first totally COTS-based workstation packaged to comply with the stringent environmental requirements of the Aegis (DDG-51) shipbuilding program. This set was qualified to MIL-STD-901D (shock), MIL-STD-167-1 (vibration to 33 Hz), MIL-STD-740-1 (Airborne Noise), MIL-STD-740-2 (Structure borne Noise), and MIL-STD-461/462 (EMI/EMC for Shipboard Equipment Class A4). SEA US Navy LCC-19 Blue Ridge: Nova Electric outfitted the flagship LCC-19 Vessel with many shock-mounted ruggedized Jupiter-Series UPSs to provide backup power to various critical ship systems. Since October 1979, the Blue Ridge has been forward-deployed at the Yokosuka Naval Base in Yokosuka, Japan as the flagship of the US Seventh Fleet. Nova Electric engineers assisted with on-site turn on at the base. The Blue Ridge participates routinely in US training exercises each year with countries throughout the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean. The systems provided are 10-50 kVA in rating with batteries all mounted in shock-isolated enclosures. There are separate wall mounted manual bypass switches which enable the US Navy to take the UPS out of service for maintenance, without any power interruption. The coil isolators prevent shipboard vibration and shock events from harming the electronic systems inside the enclosures.

US Army LCU 2000 Class Vessels: The Runnymede class large landing craft or LCU 2000 class vessels are operated by the United States Army. They transport rolling and tracked vehicles, containers, and outsized and general cargo from ships offshore to shore, as well as to areas that cannot be reached by oceangoing vessels (coastal, harbor, and intercoastal waterways). It can be self-deployed or transported aboard a float-on/float-off vessel. It is classed for full ocean service and one-man engine room operations and is built to U.S. Coast Guard standards. The vessel can sustain a crew of 2 warrant officers and 11 enlisted personnel for up to 18 days, and 10,000 miles. This class is also equipped with an aft anchor to assist in retracting from the beach. Global Hawk UAV: The Global Hawk UAV, made by Northrop Grumman Ryan Aeronautical and Raytheon, has a power buss that is made up entirely of COTS equipment. The plane is as large as a manned aircraft (Boeing 727). The Global Hawk can fly 1,200 miles to an area of interest, remain on station for 24 hours, serves an area of 60,000 square miles- roughly the size of Illinois and then return 1,200 miles to its operating base. The UAV has a range of 13,500 nautical miles, at altitudes as high as 65,000 ft. and an endurance of 36 hours. During a typical mission, the Global Hawk sensor suite can provide near real time imagery of the area of interest to the battlefield command via satellite. The UAV is programmed and controlled via a ground station. A pilot and other ground support personnel the sit in a ground shelter, located at some remote location, control the aircraft. The Ground Shelter is powered by a specially designed power system, consisting of a generator and a UPS system. The UPS system is a ruggedized COTS system designed and built by Nova Electric.

AN/TMQ-52 MMS-P Profiler: Nova Electric provides the rugged, compact power conversion equipment used aboard the Smiths Detection Profiler. The Meteorological Measuring Set Profiler (MMS-P) AN/TMQ-52 offers the Armed Forces a modernized, real-time meteorological capability over an extended 500-km battle space. The system incorporates a modified and customized version of the MM5, the most widely used and accepted mesoscale meteorological model in the world. A vastly improved radiosonde system provides highly -accurate local meteorological parameters from the surface to an altitude of 30km. This radiosonde system features a simplified and improved operator interface and utilizes GPS. A combination of the mesoscale meteorological model and post processing capability allows the number of balloon flights to be reduced by 50% over the previous MMS system while meeting the requirement to provide meteorological messages every 30 minutes. It is anticipated that as technology matures, the number of balloon flights will be further reduced and may eventually be eliminated.

Afghan National Army (ANA) Print Plant: The print plant in Kabul, Afghanistan has been modernized by the US Air Force’s Combined Security Transition Command team. The advanced new equipment utilized in the plant relies on Nova Electric’s high-power Jupiter-Series UPSs for reliable, stable power backup and conditioning capabilities. During an average week, the plant produces 15,000 newspapers, 2,500 magazines, 50,000 forms, 10,000 targets, 790 books, and 400 certificates, as well as vehicle IDs and passes. All of the products are used by the ANA for training, recruitment and logistical support.
