DF is one of the most longstanding industrial companies in Spain. More than one and a half centuries of experience, that started off with

mining and steel, progressed towards industrial equipment manufacturing, construction and assembly, and has become what it is

today: one of the main specialists in EPC contracts for power generation and industrial projects, present in Europe, America, Asia

and Africa.

The company Duro y Cia. is set up to manufacture iron products at the factory in La Felguera (Asturias-Northern Spain)

The company changes to become Sociedad Metalúrgica Duro Felguera

(SMDF) and leads the domestic steel and coal markets for seyeral years.

SMDF shares start trading on the Madrid stock exchange.

Sale of mining and steel assets and the company focuses its business on

the manufacture of industrial equipment.

International actitivies commence and the company evolves towards industrial construction and assembly.

With over 50 gas-fired power generation facilities constructed in Latin America and Europe, DF is one of the leading Spanish companies in the turnkey construction of combined and open cycle plants as the main contractor or in collaboration with the world’s leading OEMs in the power generation sector. MINING & HANDLING

DF carries out engineering and turnkey projects in the mining and mineral handling areas. Experience and its own know-how have made DF one of the main international operators in the construction of mineral handling and treatment plants and port terminals for loading and unloading solid bulk minerals.

OIL & GAS

The turnkey construction of various types of installations for the Oil & Gas sector is one of DF’s specialities. The company carries out projects in various countries around the world for major petrochemical groups and has references in Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Costa Rica, Belarus, Argentina and Jordan, among others. Fuel storage is one the DF’s main specialities thanks to the wide experience acquired in this field by its subsidiary Felguera IHI.

Manufacturing

Design and innovation in the industrial equipment

DF has its own workshops in Asturias (Northern Spain) with longstanding experience of industrial equipment manufacturing. Most of its products are exported abroad. Oversized pressure vessels for the petrochemical industry: The Felguera Calderería Pesada workshop, located close to the port of El Musel, in Gijón (Asturias), has direct access to the sea and is specialised in designing and manufacturing thick-walled pressure vessels, coking chambers, FCC units, large columns, processing units and high pressure separators. More than 40 years of experience and intensive R+D make it one of the world’s leading manufacturers. Rail track equipment and rail crossings: Felguera Rail designs and manufactures sidings, junctions, crossings, dilation equipment, as well as frogs using Mn steel. The company has several patents thanks to its intensive efforts in R+D, and its workshops are equipped with the latest technology.
