PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE
• Add s/es/ies to verbs in present simple tense if speaking about another person:
Example:
Susan eats pizza for lunch.
Mother washes the dishes.
The man carries the box.
Time Expressions
Words such as:
• Every (day, night, week, afternoon…)
• Always, usually, sometimes, often, rarely
Can help you determine verbs in present simple tense.
PAST SIMPLE TENSE
• Add d/ed/ied to regular verbs in past simple tense.
• Example:
(chase)The boy chased the girl.
(play) The children played baseball.
Time Expressions
• Words such as:
• Yesterday
• Last (night, week, month year…)
Can help you determine if the verb is in past simple tense.
