For more info: call: 1-866-433-8933, ext. 2374 BEWARE OF THIN ICE For as long as I can re- member, Christmas Day has always been the same. Of course, there’s been a few small changes here and there: the placement of the tree, the size of the gifts, and sometimes even the people around the tree, but for the most part it’s the same. We all spend the night at my par- ents, wake up super early for gifts and of course our stockings that we’ve had since I was a little girl. Then we enjoy a Christ- mas meal at lunch time with my grandmother. This year is going to be a little different though. My sister is headed to England on Christmas Eve to spend the holi- days with her stepdaugh- ters, and that’s changed our routine a little bit. We won’t be opening our gifts on Christmas Day, but instead we’ll celebrate together on Christmas Eve. That means that this year my husband and I will spend Christmas mor- ning at his sisters. We’ll be there with our nieces and nephew as they open all their gifts and I think that should be a blast! The day of Christmas is not the only thing dif- ferent this year. This year my mom has made us all new stockings. She (and my dad) have put a lot of work into them and they should all be ready for Santa to fill by Christmas Eve. I’ve been using the same stocking since I was probably three or four, and I’m a little sad to not be seeing my trusty sock on Christmas morning, but as we get older and Christmas changes a bit, other things will change too. My new stocking is decorated with Batman, and it’ll be surrounded by the stockings of the people I love the most in this world, and I can’t wait to break it in on its first Christmas. It’s not about the way you celebrate or when you have your Christmas meal, it truly is all about who you celebrate it with. MY GENERATION Kirsha Hutchcroft Christmas is a little different this year Thank you to our wonderful giving community I would like to ex- tend my heart felt thank you to all the South Grenville com- munity. It is truly spe- cial for me to know that we have such wonderful support for the food bank in our time of need. We are very close to making our budget, when only a few weeks ago we had a large shortfall. I feel confident that the remaining dollars will be raised. The South Grenville Food Bank serves a large rural area which encom- passes the Township of Augusta, Town of Pres- cott, and the Township of Edwardsburgh Car- dinal. We have three outreach food banks: one in Cardinal, one in Prescott and one in Spencerville. We had a bake sale in Cardinal last week. I would like to thank all the volunteers who baked and worked this event. In 2019, accord- ing to our link2feed stats, we served 1,075 individuals and 371 are children under the age of 17. This is an increase compared to 2018 at 980 individ- uals. WISH LIST: Canned stews, rice, canned veggies, flour and sugar SOUTH GRENVILLE FOOD BANK Food For Thought

BEWARE OF THIN ICE

For as long as I can re-member, Christmas Day has always been the same. Of course, there’s been a few small changes here and there: the placement of the tree, the size of the gifts, and sometimes even the people around the tree, but for the most part it’s the same. We all spend the night at my par-ents, wake up super early

for gifts and of course our stockings that we’ve had since I was a little girl. Then we enjoy a Christ-mas meal at lunch time

with my grandmother. This year is going to be a little different though.

My sister is headed to England on Christmas Eve to spend the holi-days with her stepdaugh-ters, and that’s changed our routine a little bit. We won’t be opening our gifts on Christmas Day, but instead we’ll celebrate together on Christmas

Eve. That means that this year my husband and I will spend Christmas mor-ning at his sisters. We’ll be there with our nieces and nephew as they open all their gifts and I think that should be a blast!

The day of Christmas is not the only thing dif-ferent this year. This year my mom has made us all new stockings. She (and

my dad) have put a lot of work into them and they should all be ready for Santa to fill by Christmas Eve. I’ve been using the same stocking since I was probably three or four, and I’m a little sad to not be seeing my trusty sock on Christmas morning, but as we get older and Christmas changes a bit, other things will change

too. My new stocking is decorated with Batman, and it’ll be surrounded by the stockings of the people I love the most in this world, and I can’t wait to break it in on its first Christmas.

It’s not about the way you celebrate or when you have your Christmas meal, it truly is all about who you celebrate it with.

Thank you to our wonderful giving communityI would like to ex-

tend my heart felt thank you to all the South Grenville com-munity. It is truly spe-cial for me to know that we have such wonderful support for the food bank in our time of need. We are

very close to making our budget, when only a few weeks ago we

had a large shortfall. I feel confident that the remaining dollars will be raised. The South Grenville Food Bank serves a large rural area which encom-passes the Township of Augusta, Town of Pres-cott, and the Township

of Edwardsburgh Car-dinal. We have three outreach food banks: one in Cardinal, one in Prescott and one in Spencerville.

We had a bake sale in Cardinal last week. I would like to thank all the volunteers who

baked and worked this event. In 2019, accord-ing to our link2feed stats, we served 1,075 individuals and 371 are children under the age of 17. This is an increase compared to 2018 at 980 individ-uals.
