PRESCHOOL - HIGH SCHOOL
Values – Academics – Community
We provide an education for life
WHY AEC?The Adelson Educational Campus (AEC) is the only preschool-12th grade Jewish Day School in
the state of Nevada. We are an academically invigorating, independent private school based on
Jewish values and culture. Within our lower and upper school, located on one state-of-the-art
campus, we carefully nurture the youngest preschoolers and guide them, step-by-step, to
become intelligent, compassionate, and dynamic young adults.
Unlike most schools, which focus solely on academic performance, we view education as a force
through which our children will contribute to and change the world in positive ways, internalizing
values such as integrity, moral justice, tolerance, kindness, and community, values that are at
the core of everything we do in the school. Our small student-to-teacher ratios are intentional
ensuring individualized attention and learning for each child.
Unique to AEC, and a reflection of our commitment to 21st century learning, is our Startup
Incubator, a state-of-the-art technology lab that inspires innovation and creativity. It is viewed as
the model for how students will learn and apply technology in the real world.
AEC graduates develop the highest academic and personal confidence, gaining acceptance into
the top universities around the world and with every advantage to be successful in their pursuits.
Jewish values are the foundation of everything we do
WE ARE CITIZENS OF THE WORLD AEC is built on the values associated with the Hebrew word ruach, which translates as “spirit”
or “soul.” It is infused into each classroom, into the curriculum, and into the connections that
people make with one another during each day. The care the teachers and administration
show for each and every student, the expert way adults guide and shape young people, the
light that children emanate while walking through the halls - this is RUACH. Respect for All.
Understanding Differences. Academic Excellence. Community of Kindness. Honoring Judaism.
We promote feelings of pride in Jewish identity by instilling an understanding of and respect
for Jewish history, Israel, and the Jewish people. One of the fundamental tenets of Judaism is
social responsibility, whether it is through Tzedakah (doing justice by giving charity), and through
Tikkun Olam (fixing what is wrong with the world). At AEC, students of all ages understand they
must be guardians of their community and organize Tikkun Olam projects throughout the year.
AEC provides academic excellence without a ceiling
WE ARE ASPIRATIONAL AND TRANSFORMING We believe in the value of student-centered, individualized learning, tailoring content and the
way in which students learn to be optimal for each child. At AEC, students don’t just absorb
information; they are asked to reflect on it and examine how it connects to their lives and their
highest aspirations.
Students are mentored and given opportunities that encourage them to step outside of their
comfort zones, where the greatest possibilities for growth lie.
AEC students discover ways to uncover answers, to cherish and support the world around them,
and to find new ways to view it. Students not only prepare for college – they prepare for life.
Our curriculum, teaching approach, and hiring practices are all designed to build enduring habits
of moral character and intellectual curiosity, emotional intelligence and personal creativity, logical
thinking and critical analysis. We also integrate modern technology into everything we do at the
school, centered around our state-of-the-art technology lab, the Startup Incubator.
21st century learning and innovation starts here
WE ARE INNOVATORS The educational landscape is evolving rapidly as technological innovations change
the way students learn and teachers instruct in the 21st century. AEC implements
cutting-edge, technological approaches to teaching and learning, integrating
technology into the school curriculum to provide students a relevant and
progressive “Education for Life.”
THE STARTUP INCUBATOR – At 5,000 square feet, this state-of-the-art
innovation and entrepreneurial workshop is our centerpiece facility in which
students and teachers bring ideas to life. Consisting of a Coding Lab, Digital Media
Studio, and Fab Lab, the Incubator features twenty 3D printers, a laser cutter, a
chroma key wall, digital cameras, and more. From programming mobile apps and
shooting VR footage to crafting e-textiles and building drones, students find the
tools, mentors, and teamwork required to create digital and physical artifacts that
solve problems, convey information, and provide artistic and cultural meaning.
Students follow the design cycle and lean startup model as guiding practices in
the Incubator.
CURRICULAR INTEGRATION AND STEM COURSES – Technology-mediated
access to tools for research, communication, collaboration, analysis, visualization
and presentation – framed in common sense digital citizenship practices – is
fundamental to every course we offer. Additionally, weekly coding/maker courses
in Lower School, core and elective Incubator courses in Upper School, as well as
AP Computer Science courses and summer STEM enrichment offerings, provide
extensive opportunities for engaging in a true 21st century learning experience
at AEC.
OUR MISSIONThe mission of The Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus
draw strength from a rich Jewish heritage, and use their knowledge, values, and vision to fulfill their own potential and build a better world.
is to instruct and inspire new generations of students who will
and vision to fulfill their own potential and build a better world.
A lasting bond between students, families, and faculty
WE ARE A COMMUNITYOne of our biggest assets is the lifelong communal support that our students, parents and staff
experience at our school. We are a school in which you feel a sense of belonging and acceptance.
We take care of and inspire each other with acts of kindness and charity. As one parent told us,
“When I drop my daughter off in the morning, I feel like she’s with extended family.”
Although the AEC community is based on Jewish values, it’s intentionally inclusive to those
outside the Jewish faith. AEC accepts students and families of all faiths and affiliations. As a
community built on kindness, respect, and tolerance, we believe in and feel a responsibility to
uphold the values of civil discourse. It is critical that our students understand how to articulate
and defend their opinions and ideologies, and respect others for theirs, while at university and
throughout their lives.
Making sound choices for the future
WE ARE PROUD TO BE DRUG FREEAll of our high school students, teachers, and staff agree to mandatory drug testing several
times throughout the school year. Adolescence is an extremely vulnerable time for our children
to be exposed to substance use and develop addiction. The brain is still developing through
childhood, reaching a fully matured state only in adulthood. While the brain is still maturing,
any developmental disturbances, which can be caused by exposure to drugs like marijuana, can
measurably decrease a child’s IQ. Understanding that early intervention is critical to helping
prevent teens from drug abuse and addiction, AEC focuses on drug education and preventative
programming. Our students understand how to make informed decisions which lead to a
healthy future.
Athletics for all students
Division Champions
Undefeated Season
WE ARE COMPETITORSAt AEC we promote the importance of life-long health and wellness for all of our students. From
preschool through grade 12, we have specially designed developmentally appropriate programs
to build strength and coordination and foster self-confidence and teamwork.
In recent years our men’s varsity basketball team has won Division Championships and competed
for the NIAA Group 2A state championships. Men’s and women’s varsity swim teams consistently
qualify for regional and state championships.
Our competitive sports offerings include baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, swimming,
tennis, and volleyball. We also offer two intramural sports: fencing and golf. All Upper School
students are encouraged to join any of our teams.
Learning goes beyond the classroom
WE ARE ARTISTS, DANCERS, AND MUSICIANSWe excel at creating an exceptional and supportive community and learning environment for
students and families.
We encourage our students to experiment and explore through numerous clubs and
extracurricular activities in both the Lower and Upper School. Our students have every
opportunity to enrich their studies through a variety of fields, interests, and people. From
musical theater, art festivals, and slam poetry to rocketry and S.T.E.A.M. competitions, we
pursue an educational path for each child that is experiential and project-based. Students are
encouraged to pursue independent study and passion projects. We strive for our children to be
balanced and thrive in their pursuit of academic and intellectual achievement and happiness.
A celebration of cultural vibrancy
Shinshinim
WE ARE UNITED WITH ISRAELIsrael education is integrated into the AEC vision, mission, culture, and curriculum. From
preschool to high school, students develop a relationship with the land of Israel, its people, and
its culture. We nurture a positive and emotional connection to Israel as the homeland of the
Jewish people, rich with history and traditions.
AEC hosts young Israeli ambassadors in the Shinshinim program: Israeli high school graduates
who spend a gap year with us before they commence their mandatory military service in
Israel. The Shinshinim program’s mission is to bring Israel closer to our community, to foster
cross-cultural understanding, and nurture interest in, love of and pride in Israel.
Our technology initiatives in the Startup Incubator are modeled after the exciting innovations
coming out of Israel. We partner with Israeli institutions and collaborate with Israel-related
organizations to further our students’ exposure to the most innovative ideas and ideals. AEC
Upper School students will have the opportunity to discover Israel first-hand through a school
trip, which has proven to be life-changing for many students over the years.
