Some Tips to Filing Your Tax Return
• Below are options on how to file a tax return (these are tips and not prescribed advisement, your situation
may require more or less than the following options):
IRS for Students:
• We recommend visiting the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) website which gives helpful tips for students in regards to education credits, tax filing, FAFSA needs, and much more!

When preparing to file a tax return you may consider:
• Co-coordinating with parent(s) to determine if you are being claimed as a dependent.
• Keeping all tax documents that you receive: W-2, Interest statements from bank, etc.
• Winnings and scholarships in excess of school expenses are reported as income.
• You can get your 1098-T, scholarships and tuition info, from OSU.
