ProblemThe hearing impaired have a difficult time
communicating with individuals that do not know sign language.
These difficulties can cause a hearing impaired individual to limit their activities in order to avoid frustrations and embarrassment.
Ten million Americans are hard of hearing and one million are functionally deaf. (Mitchell 2005)
