Get Your Car Ready for a Road Trip

Intro

In this presentation you will find some useful tips on what you can do to prepare your car before you go on a road trip with it.

Going on a road trip is obviously a lot of fun, but there are some preparations you need to make regarding your car before you even leave your driveway.

Fluids check

Although there is no determined order as to what part of the car you should check first, I would start with the fluids.

you must check if there is enough coolant, and if not, you need to fill your radiator up. It will keep your engine cool, so it doesn't overheat.

Engine oil and transmission fluid levels must also be taken into consideration.

Putting enough gas in your tank is a pretty obvious thing to do, but some people need to be reminded of that, too.

Tires check

Next thing you should do, and this is very important, is check your tires.

They need to be inflated to the appropriate amount of pressure. If they are too worn out, buy new ones and replace them, the cost will be worth it. The spare tire is often forgotten, so make sure to see if it's ready to go if you need to change a flat tire on the road.

Battery, air filter and brakes

You have to clean the battery and recharge it if you haven't been driving your car for a long time.

Also, you need to clean the air filter, as well as inspect the belts and hoses and see if there is any wear and tear on them. If a belt brakes or if there is a leaking hose, it might lead to an engine overheating and troubles with the steering.

End notes

So these are some of the things you must do in preparation for a road trip. Most of them you can do by yourself, all you need is some basic knowledge of vehicles. As far as the more complicated issues are concerned, such as making a brakes inspection, you should go to a car repair shop and leave it to professional mechanics. Even if your car is not in the list of perfectly suited cars for long road trips, a nice preparation can do wonders.

Now that you made sure everything is all right with your car, all that is left to do is gather your family or friends, stock up on snacks and think of fun games to play in cars, and enjoy the ride.
