Workshop Objectives Workshop #1(December)• To review the project timeline to identify timelines and stages for

effective project planning • To understand the importance of advance planning for your museum

exhibition• To gather ideas of what artefacts you could start looking for • To understand what makes for an effective museum display

Workshop #2 (January)• To evaluate the strength of the artefacts you have, and identify what you

still need to collect/make/find • To understand how to effectively display your research/ideas/artefacts • To consider how you will engage visitors to your museum booth,

through key questions, interactive components, artefacts and multimedia

Project Planning: timeline & steps to prepare for• Preparation for your museum display starts

during the research stage in December • Ideas for an engaging, interesting, interactive

display take time, so start brainstorming ideas on how to present a concept as you research.

• Borrowing artefacts from family takes time: you need to explore what is available and find the objects

• Collect as much as you can, even if at the time, it doesn’t connect to your project idea

• Start collecting craft material (spare cardboard, string, containers, styrofoam, wood etc.)

• Start looking at how things are displayed: in stores, galleries, museums

• Think about what draws you to a museum booth or presentation

Evaluating Projects TaskWith a partner, study the images of past projects. Considering your own experiences of presentations and exhibits, what we have discussed today and the top ten tips just given, decide:

1. What are the strengths of the project?2. What are possible areas of improvement?3. How could it be done differently?

Next steps • What ideas do you currently have for a display?

• What artefacts do you know you have access to?

• What would you like to find?

• How are you going to start this process?
