The following information is for preliminary information. The contents mentioned in this document, you will find in the next regular update of MAN Guidelines to fitting bodies. With the publication of the additional booklet Power Take Off´s - Editon 2015 V1.0 this document loses its validity. This document does not replace the regular guidelines to fitting bodies, but it is complementary to the corresponding chapters of 2014 Edition V1.0. So far there was for supporting hydraulic pumps - mounted on the SSNA- with a permissible moment of weight over 30 Nm the following notice:


Updated Status

A support of the pump on the gearbox is permitted under the following conditions:

MAN has defined attachment points, where a support for a hydraulic pump can be mounted. The following information applies only to vehicles of TGS and TGX series with engines of type D20 and D26. Depending on whether an automated TipMatic gearbox (ZF ASTronic, 12 gear) or a manually operated gearbox (ZF Ecosplit, 16 gear) is installed, there are different attachment points. The moment of weight of the pump (incl. oil, hoses and fittings) must not exceed 50 Nm - also with support. The attachment points are described on the following pages.

The screws have to be the material thickness of the holder longer than the standard screws.

Quality of the screws as in the series.

The holder may only rest on the contact surface of the screw. Gearbox must be checked for oil tightness on the screw connection.



Lubrication of the pump shaft

The shaft of the pump has lubricated with a high temperature greases listed in the following table. If a support is retrofitted to a vehicle, the pump has to be dismantled, the shaft has to be cleaned and lubricated with one of the approved greases before reinstalling.

Notes

The body builder is responsible for the design of an appropriate support for the pump. The support must be done on both sides. A holder that supports the pump for example only on the left sid is not permited. It must be ensured that by the holder no collisions with other, sometimes moving vehicle parts occur. The pump must be aligned exactly horizontally through the support. A tension-free installation must be ensured. Axial force into the PTO is not permitted. The length of the screws and thread for attaching the holder to the gear should be selected so that no damage to the transmission occur. The maximum permissible output torque remains unchanged at 400 Nm at continuous operation (570 Nm for short time operation maximum of 3 minutes per operating hour). Furthermore, the specifications of the guidelines to fitting bodies in the currently valid edition are observed.
