    TEAM BASED PROJECT WORK

Team work: To realise the full practical benefit and learning that

project work affords, project work shall be undertaken in teams of a

minimum of four and up to a maximum of six members. Studentsshall be free to choose their teams, and members in a team can be

both from Section A and B. Once a team is chosen and approved by

the examiner, it cannot be altered at a later stage, since learning team

work and collaboration is an essential part of project work.

Only students expressly permitted to present team based projects

shall be permitted to do so. All others shall present projects on an

    individual basis.

Since projects shall be team based, each team will make a team

presentation for its viva voce evaluation.

Ensuring maximum contribution of each individual team member

to the project: To ensure that there are no free riders or sleeping

partners, the following methodology shall be employed:

    (i) Submission of Individual synopses: Once the teams and project

proposals are finalised for each team, each team member shall submit

an individual synopsis in writing, clearly stating what her or his rolein the project shall be. This must be based upon consensus amongst

team members. Each individual synopsis in writing, must be approved

by the examiner. As a rule, no revision of an individual synopsis is

permissible. However, if as the project evolves, and a student feels the

need for the same, some tailoring and fine-tuning of each team

members role may be permitted. Any changes in the individual

synopsis will require the examiners written permission.

(ii) Team Leader: Each team is free to choose a team leader. The teamleaders principal task will be to provide leadership to each team. The

team leader will assist the team in arriving at a consensus as to the

allocation of roles to each team member. It will be the team leaders

secondary role to ensure that each team member makes a

contribution to the project as per allocated roles and approved

individual synopses. Lastly, it will be the team leaders role to keep the

examiner abreast of the teams progress from time to time, and to

arrange any meetings with the examiner, if required by the team.

(iii) Team viva voce presentation: the viva voce test shall be

conducted for each team with all members present, in the form of a

team presentation. The presentation would be in the form of oral

submissions made in a court of law by a team of lawyers, very similar

to a moot court presentation. Each team member must participatein making the presentation. The presentation may be made by a

team in any format of its choice, to best highlight the role played by

each team member. The format of presentation and the total time

required for the presentation to be made by each team must have the

prior approval of the examiner in advance.

Performance in the viva voce presentation shall corroborate what

each team member has claimed to be their contribution to the

project in their written individual synopses. If a team member is

found to be wanting in his contribution to the team, they may be

awarded a lower mark than the remaining members of the team

both for viva voce test and the written report.

Any member absent from the team presentation shall be awarded

zero marks out of 15 marks for project work.
