What can people be prejudiced against?

Gender – women, men, transgendered, single or married should all have same rights

Age – no matter what age, you should have fair & equal treatment at work

Sexual Orientation – LGBT or straight, you should have same rights & opportunities.

Disability – employers should make adjustments for your disability so you can have same opportunities at work

Religion & Belief – Christian, Jedi or Atheist, you should be treated fairly at work & your conscience in certain matters respected (eg option to not work Sundays)

Race & Colour – whatever your ethnic origin, you have the same right to be treated fairly with the same opportunities as anyone else

Facts about Racism in the UK today1. 30% of all Britons admitted making comments or

being involved in discussions which could be considered racist

2. Almost 40% confessed to using the phrase ‘I’m not a racist, but...' when discussing race issues

3. 1 in 10 people have been told by someone close to them that they are racist

4. Racism is higher in the North of the UK, among poorer, less educated, older white people

5. Nearly 88,000 racist incidents were recorded in Britain's schools between 2007 and 2011, the BBC has found. (Bullying, name calling, physical abuse).

6. In 2006, black people were 6 times more likely than whites to be stopped and searched, and Asians are twice as likely.
