New violations of women's rights in Iran

TEXT:Bills 446 and 315 approved by the Iranian Government pose a new abuse on Women's rights. They impede access to contraceptives or voluntary sterilisation, favour impunity in cases of violence against women, hinder access of women to the labour market, etc.

Human Rights Watch specifically remarks in their world report that state of human rights has deteriorated. Such is also confirmed by Ahmad Shahid, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Iran, in his last report.

Considering the issue of women's rights should be a matter of essential importance in every dialogue held between the EU and Iran (2014/2625(RSP)), and that promotion of Human Rights in Iran is one of the bases in the relationship between the EU and the aforementioned country, we ask the HR/VP:

1. What strategy will the HR/VP adopt with regards to the passing of these bills by the Iranian Government?

2. How does the HR/VP justify the non-revision of imposed sanctions on Iran and the fulfilment of agreements regarding human rights since March 2013?

3. Will the HR/VP stress Iran to allow the entrance of the United Nations Special Rapporteur?
