Precision Engineering & Proven AccuracyMake Kearney Fuse Links the Choice of Utilities Worldwide!•

Type K • Type T • Type KS • Type Slow-Quick • Secondary Indicating Fuses

For more than 50 years, Kearney has manufactured fuse links to exactingstandards - ANSI and NEMA included. Today, Kearney fuse links remainthe leading, dependable choice of utility coordination engineers andfield personnel worldwide .

Versatile Options• Kearney fuse links provide the most

economical way to achieve servicecontinuity.

Ideal for 4 to 38 kV systems using anytype of cutout .

Available with solid or removablebuttonhead .

Pro ven AccuracyRemovablebuttonhead

Inventive design and experienced, hand-crafted manufacturing ensurepremium performance .

Pure tin fusible elements are drawn to precise tolerances .

Ongoing Analysis•

Periodic random production line testing ensures consistently high quality, fuse link after fuse link .

Al¡ Kearney fuse links meet the latest versions of ANSI C37.42 and NEMASG2.1 standards.

Low Melt Characteristics Handle Overloads ExceptionallyKearney fuse links are designed with low melting temperature characteristicsof either tin- or solder-filled dual element construction . Low melting temperaturefuse links have exceptional overload capability. They are designed to carry150% of their current rating continuously without damaging the fuse link or thecutout fuse-holder.

Dual Element Design Offers Excellent Surge Withstand CapabilityKearney Types KS and Slow-Quick fuse links, and al¡ 1 and 2 ampere Types Kand T use a unique type of element construction : two elements in series, connected by a solder joint - hence dual element construction .

Dual elements allow the fuse to respond as low temperature single elementfuses for long-time overloads, yet have superior surge withstand capability.Kearney dual element fuse links have up to 26 times more surge withstandcapability than single element fuse links .

Superior Construction Ensures Reliable ServiceTin-plated copper BUTTON TERMINALis engineered for conductivity. For easy

identification, rating and type are stamped on head .

Pure copper BODY TERMINALassures integrity of solder connections.

STRAIN WIREends are curled and coatedwith abrasive to provide a

30 lb. minimum tension rating.

WASHER is a tin-plated, copperalloy(on 1-50 amp links).

TIN ELEMENTS provide greateraccuracy, cooleroperation and better overload characteristics .

FUSE TU BE selected for precise balancebetween length and bursting strength. Epoxycoated for weatherproofing; fiber liner generatesdeionized gas .

Kearney Fuse Link SelectionTypes K and T are designed for expulsion cutouts. These two fuse Iink types are designed to cany 150%of their rated current continuously without damage to the fuse link or cutout fuse holder

7ype K = Fast¡

Meets ANSI/NEMA requirements for a "fast"fuse Iink.

¡

Nominal speed ratio* : 7 .

¡

Well suited for fast time-current applications, such as capacitor protection .

Type KS = Very SIowExcellent for transformer protection, Type KSfuse links employ dual element construction .They conform with the ANSI transformer loadingcurve, and provide the full load and overloadcapability designed finto the transformer. Itsbuilt-in surge capacity allows the fuse to rideout short time currents due to lightning, switching and momentary current overloads .

¡

Featuring dual element construction for highsurge withstand capability .

¡

Nominal speed ratio*: 20 .

¡ Classified as very slow, Type KS has greatersurge withstand than the Type T, making it agood choice for line fusing and transformerprotection .

Type T = Slow¡

Meets ANSI/NEMA requirements for a "slow"fuse link .

¡

Nominal speed ratio* : 12 .

¡

Slower time-current characteristics for goodcoordination with relays and reclosers .

Type Slow-Quick = Transformer Protection

¡

Dual element construction allows time currentcharacteristic to closely match the ANSI loadingcurve for transformers . Also provides excellentsurge withstand to avoid nuisance blowing fromlightning and switching surges .

¡

Nominal speed ratio* : 32 .¡

Specially designed for transformer protection .

* The speed ratio of al• fuse Iink sizes 100 amperes andbelow is the ratio between the current that melts the fusein 0.1 second to the current that melts the fuse in 300seconds. The higher the ratio, the slower the speed ofmelting. For fuses rated aboye 100 amperes, the speedratio is between the melting currents at 0 .1 second and600 seconds.

F use link ratings recommended in these tables will carry the fui• load of atransformer continuously and will open in five minutes when the transformerload is approximately three times fui• load . Smaller or larger fuse link ratings

may be used to give the desired correlation of protection and continuity of service .These tables are to be used as a guide until a more detailed study can be made .

Single Phase Transformer InstallationsUse this table for all single phase, three phase "WYE" and outside legs of open deltaconnected transformers. Do not fuse neutral.

Three Phase Transformer InstallationsUse this table for closed delta and common legs of open delta connected transformers .Use the fuse size recommended for the largest transformer connected to the lead underconsideration .

Types K, T and Slow-Quick are available in 26"/660.4 mm lengths. To order 26"/660.4 mm Slow-Quick fuse links, change the suffix -60 to -26.Example: To order a 0.4 amp, 267660.4 mm Slow-Quick fuse, specify catalog number 0.4SQ-26.To order 26"/660.4 mm long Type K or T fuse links, add -26 to the catalog number.Example: To order a 4 amp, 267660.4 mm solid button Type K fuse Iink, specify catalog number A31004-26.

Kearney fuse Iinks are individuallypackaged in transparent plastic bagsthat are scored for easy opening, evenwith gloves. Bagged fuses are packedin an overcarton for protection andease of handling . For quick identifica-tion, the catalog number, fuse type andamp rating are clearly marked on eachbag and al• cartons .

AII orders are shipped and invoiced in standard carton quantities . The standard carton is 25 for mostfuse Iinks, except those coded ¡ below; standard carton for catalog numbers marked ¡ is 10 .

Minimum order for end column pricing of fuse Iinks is 500 pieces. Minimum may consist of quantities fromany fuse Iink type .

Fuse Iinks listed below are for 15kV systems ; types K and T are available for 38kV systems . To order fuseIinks for 38kV systems, change the catalog number as follows : Solid button - Add -53 at the end of thecatalog number. Example: To orderA31001, change catalog number to A31001-53 . Removable button :Add -53 before -60 in the catalog number . Example: To order 31001-60, change the number to 31001-53-60.
