Then she woke up.

Giuseppe and Maria ell in love and when Giuseppe proposedmarriage to her, Maria happily accepted. Ater the wedding,Giuseppe and his new bride made a trip to San Giovanni Rotondoto see Padre Pio and to tell him the good news.

Pope Pius XII (Eugenio Pacelli) was admired by manyor his proound and lielong devotion to the Blessed VirginMary. He was ordained as a bishop on May 13, 1917, the dayo the rst appearance o Our Lady o Fatima to Jacinta, Fran-cisco, and Lucia, the three shepherd children o Fatima, Portu-gal. When Eugenio was elected pope in 1939, and took the

name Pope Pius XII, he placed his ponticate under the speciaprotection o the Virgin Mary.

Pope Pius XII has oten been spoken o as the most Marianpope in all o Church history. He consecrated the world to the

Immaculate Heart o Mary in 1942. In 1954, he introduced anew Marian east to the Church, the Queenship o Mary. Hewas the rst pope to call or a Marian year, a practice whichwas continued by Pope John Paul II in 1998. Aure possessed a beautiul antique painting o the Virginand Child that dated back to the 16 th century. When an ac-quaintance asked Aure about the value o the artwork, Auretold him that it was worth millions. That very night, Aure hada dream. In his dream, Padre Pio was looking directly at him.He had a very severe expression on his ace. “You paid 25,000lira or that painting,” Padre Pio said. “It is not worth millionsand you know it!”

When Aure woke up the next morning, he refected on

the dream. What Padre Pio had said to him in the dream wasindeed true. The painting had cost him exactly 25,000 lira. A-ter much thought, Aure decided to give the painting to PadrePio. He traveled to the monastery o Our Lady o Grace andpresented it to him. Padre Pio smiled at Aure and accepted thepainting. He seemed to be genuinely happy to receive the git.

Proessor G. Felice Checcacci, a native o Genoa, hadspent many years living in Asia. He had long abandoned hisChristian aith, believing it to be a break o rom several otherworld religions. When Felice returned to Italy, he read a bookabout Padre Pio which made a great impression on him. Itcaused him to reexamine all o his belies. One night he hada dream o Padre Pio. In his dream, Padre Pio spoke to himand said, “Come and see me.” Felice did not pay too muchattention to the dream. About three months later, he had an-other dream. In his dream, Padre Pio said, “I waited or you butyou have not come.” And nally, he had a third experience inwhich Padre Pio said to him, “I you won’t come to see me, atleast write to me!”

The very next day, Felice wrote a letter to Padre Pio,recommending himsel to his prayers. In the letter, he told PadrePio that he was searching or peace o mind and peace o heart. In the late aternoon, just two days ater sending the letter,Felice had a very strong desire to go to church. He had not doneso in more than thirty years. As he sat alone in the quiet church,he was startled to hear a voice within his heart saying, “Faith isnot up or discussion; you either believe it or you do not believeit. You either accept it or you reject it; there is no middle ground. You must choose one way or the other.” Felice was certain thatit was Padre Pio who was speaking to him.

Each week we post testimonies o graces received through theintercession o Padre Pio as well as passages rom his spiritualwritings and letters on our Facebook Pages at:

This beautiul antique painting titled Our Lady o Purity hungon the wall in Padre Pio’s cell or many years. Padre Pio had a special love or this painting. He once said, “Remember that  you have in Heaven, not only a Father but also a Mother.”

Felice knew that or a long time, he had been drawing hisown conclusions about Christianity. He was using his reasonand his intellect to try to understand transcendental truths. Itwasn’t possible. From that moment on, his lie underwent acomplete change. He elt a great sense o peace in his heartand he returned to the practice o his Christian aith.

Aurilio Montalto of Bolzano, Italy visited San Giovann

Rotondo in order to make his conession to Padre Pio and toattend his Mass. He returned a number o times and elt soinspired that he decided to move there permanently with hiswie and our children. He bought a hotel close to the monastery and rom the income, he was able to provide or hisamily’s needs.

Aurilio had a brother who was a non-believer. His brothevisited San Giovanni Rotondo or the rst time right atePadre Pio passed away. Beore the uneral, Aurilio’s brothehad a desire to see Padre Pio’s body while it was lying in stateHowever, it was so crowded in the church that he was neveable to do so.

One day Aurilio and his brother had a talk about Padre Pio

His brother explained that he had no eeling or Padre Pio. Hecertainly did not believe that he was a saint. All the talk aboutPadre Pio let him cold and completely indierent.

Not long ater, he walked over to the church o Our Lady oGrace and sat alone on one o the back benches. Suddenly heelt a tap on his shoulder and heard a stern voice. He turned tosee who it was but there was no one there. He became rightened and immediately got up and moved to another bench inthe church. A second time, he heard an authoritative voice andelt someone touch his shoulder. He looked closely but therewas no one there. Feeling a mounting ear, he broke out in acold sweat. He could not understand what was happening.

The next time Aurilio saw his brother, he heard every detai

o his unusual story. “How does someone go about making theiconession?” his brother asked. Aurilio was happy to explaineverything about the sacrament in great detail. “How does oneprepare himsel to make his rst Holy Communion?” his brotheasked. Again, Aurilio was delighted to explain it to him.

That night Aurilio’s brother had a dream. Padre Pio wasstanding beside him with a Rosary in his hand. In the dreamPadre Pio taught him how to pray. The dream marked the beginning o his conversion. Right ater that, he asked to be received into the Catholic Church. From that time orward, helived a very devout lie.

Ater Bernadette Palo had long-discarded her Catholicaith, she became interested in spiritualism and in the occultOne night she dreamed that she saw Padre Pio standing inront o a church. She told Padre Pio that something wasbothering her. Padre Pio smiled at her and said, “Give it upGive it up!” Bernadette understood that Padre Pio meant tha

she should give up her study o the occult. “But i I do that, how can I make progress on the spiritual path? How can I begood?” Bernadette asked. “God thinks you are good enoughalready,” Padre Pio replied. Ater the dream, Bernadette hada desire to go to conession. She prayed or the courage todo so. She nally made her conession and returned to thesacraments ater an absence o twelve years.

When Nancy Sinisi developed a kidney disease, the doctorexplained to the amily that her condition was lie-threatening.She was placed on dialysis three times a week and became acandidate or a kidney transplant. Nancy’s mother had recentlylearned about Padre Pio. She decided to write a letter to him, asking him or his prayers or her daughter’s recovery. The yearwas 1967. One day when Mrs. Sinisi was telling her amilysome o the details o Padre Pio’s lie, the room became lledwith a beautiul perume.

It wasn’t long beore Mrs. Sinisi received a letter in replyrom San Giovanni Rotondo. The letter said that Padre Piowas praying or Nancy. The letter also stated that prayer mustalways be made according to the will o God.

When the doctor conrmed that Nancy would denitelyneed a kidney transplant, Mary Ann, Nancy’s sister, became soconcerned that she sent Padre Pio a telegram and requestedhis prayers. That night Mrs. Sinisi had a dream o Padre Pio. Inthe dream, Padre Pio said to her, “It was not necessary or atelegram to be sent to me. I was already praying or Nancy!”Later, Nancy received a kidney transplant. The operation wentvery well and the Sinisi amily was condent that Padre Pio hadassisted Nancy with his intercessory prayers.

Michael Gervais and his parents once attended a serieso inspirational talks given by the Oblates o Mary Immaculate

in Augusta, Maine. One evening, one o the priests, FatherValliere, spoke about Padre Pio during his presentation. TheGervais amily had never heard o Padre Pio. Mr. Gervais wasso interested in what Father Valliere had said that he went tothe Bangor public library and put in a request or several bookson Padre Pio. They were evidently popular books because ittook more than a month or them to arrive. The books hadobviously been rebound because the covers were plain anddevoid o pictures. Mr. Gervais placed them on the washingmachine across rom the kitchen window in his home andlooked orward to reading them.

The next morning, Michael’s mother told the amily that shehad a very unusual dream the night beore. The dream madesuch an impact that it woke her up out o a sound sleep. Shedreamed that she was awakened by a loud noise coming romthe kitchen. When she went to investigate, she saw a beardedman with piercing dark eyes who was rattling the kitchenwindow, trying to get in the house. He looked like he was about

thirty-ve years old. Her husband let the man in the houseMrs. Gervais then noticed a car parked in ront o the houseAs she stared at the car, some words appeared in a scroll-likemanner on the side o the car. The words said, “You and meand the Divinity and your children.” The dream then ended.

The next evening, Mrs. Gervais nally got a chance tolook at the library books that were still sitting on the washingmachine near the kitchen window. Inside one o the bookswas a picture o Padre Pio. She recognized him instantly as

the man she had seen in her dream. He appeared to be aboutthe same age and had the same dark and piercing eyes. In thephotograph, he was celebrating Mass. Underneath the picturewere the words, “Oh God, grant that through the mysteryo this water and wine, we may be partakers o his Divinitywho had deigned to become partakers o our humanity, JesusChrist thy Son, our Lord.”

One o Padre Pio’s spiritual daughters met Padre Piowhen she was just eighteen years old. She was suering rompoor health at the time. Padre Pio put his hand on her headand said to her, “Do not worry about anything.” His hand elt

like a very heavy weight pressing on her head. She was healedat his touch. Later, when she married and had a amily, therewere many trials to ace. She ound out that her husband wasunaithul to her. To add to her heartache, one o her childrenbecame addicted to drugs. During this dicult time in her lieshe had a vivid dream o Padre Pio. In her dream, she was in acountry setting and in the distance she saw Padre Pio. He wasrunning toward her.

As she pondered the meaning o the dream, she wasconvinced that it meant that Padre Pio knew all about heproblems and was interceding or her. She recalled that therst time she made her conession to him, he told her not toworry about anything. She placed hersel under Padre Pio’s

protection and had aith that all would be well.

Grant me your grace, O most merciul Jesus that yourgrace may be with me, and work with me, and remainwith me to the very end. Grant that I may always desireand will that which is most acceptable and pleasing to

you. Let your will be mine. Let my will always ollow yours and agree perectly with it. Let my will be one with yours in willing and in not willing, and let me be unableto will or not will anything but what you will or do notwill. Grant that I may die to all things in the world, andor your sake, love to be despised and unknown in thislie. Give me above all desires, the desire to rest in youand in you let my heart have peace. You are true peaceo heart. You alone are its rest. Without you all thingsare difcult and troubled. In this peace, the selsame thatis in you, the Most High, the everlasting Good, I will sleepand take my rest. Amen.
