INTRODUCTION

Pravara Rural Education Society : The Pravara

Rural Education Society was established in July 1964 by

the great visionary, Padmashri Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe

Patil at Pravaranagar in the district of Ahmednagar. The

founder father had dreams of providing high class &

quality education in rural area and prepares them for

entry into National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla

which will be comparable with the best in urban area.

At present the society is headed by

Padmabhushan Shri Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, a veteran

parliamentarian and former Union Minister of Heavy

Industries & Public Enterprises, Govt. of India. It has

close to 100 educational institutions under its wings.

PADMASHRI DR. VITTHALRAO VIKHE

PATIL SAINIK SCHOOL, LONI (MH)

1. In the year 1997, Maharashtra Government announced a

scheme to open one Sainik School per district to promote

participation of Maharashtra in the Indian Army, particularly

Officers cadre.

2. Padmashri Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Sainik School was

established by Pravara Rural Education Society on 11 Oct 1997 (the

auspicious day of Vijaya -Dashami in the year 1997) at Loni.

3. It is an English Medium School from Std. V to Std. XII and

follows the pattern of Maharashtra State Board for Secondary &

Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

4. Since the academic year 2009-10, the school has moved into its

own new location sprawling over 35 acres having excellent

infrastructure for classes, hostel and cadet’s mess along with

number of playgrounds for all types of sports and games and

International level Swimming Pool & a multi-facility Sports

Complex.

5. The Commandant, the Principal and many of the staff members

are residing within the school campus thus ensuring discipline

and proper administration of the school.

Under the able guidance of Pravara Rural Education Society, Sainik School is

controlled and run by the Commandant who is always a retired Army Officer having vast

and varied experience in the field of Leadership and Personality Development. He is

assisted by the Principal and other staff.

LOCATION

The school is located at Loni Kd, Taluka-Rahata, Dist. Ahmednagar. The place is well

connected by road. It is 22 Km from Shirdi, 63 Km from Ahmednagar and 85 Kms from

Manmad Junction. Nearest bus stand is Loni at approx 2 Km from the school. The school is

approachable by road via Kolhar on Ahmednagar – Shirdi Road and via Sangamner on

Nashik – Ahmednagar Road. Nearest Railway Station is Belapur (Shrirampur) on

keep themselves up-to-date on the National and

� ACCOMMODATION:

� The school has comfortable hostel facilities

with a stand-by Generator.

� The cadets are divided into 6 houses. These

houses are controlled by six individual House

Masters.

� The House Masters also reside in the Hostel

along with the students.

� Solar Heater facility is available for bathing.

� Movies are shown on LCD projector on

Saturdays.

� COACHES:

Special coaches for most of the games are on the staff and additional coaches are

arranged for short duration.

� FOOD AND MESSING:

� Separate building for Cadet’s Mess is available with a capacity to accommodate all the

cadets.

� The mess offers delicious Veg and Non-veg,

Maharashtrian style, South Indian food.

� A balanced diet of approx 3000 calories per day is

provided to each cadet under strict supervision of the

Mess Manager.

� The main features of the diet are as follows:

i. Full glass of milk daily.

ii. Chicken and eggs twice a week. (Separate provision for vegetarians)

iii. Seasonal Fruits.

iv. Tea & Snacks in the afternoon.

� LAUNDRY / BARBER:

These facilities are available in the Campus.

� MEDICAL FACILITY:

A qualified and experienced doctor looks after the healthcare of the children. The doctor

is assisted by two trained nurses and the school has ten bedded infirmary/Sick room.

Children suffering from minor ailment are admitted. In emergency, cadets are admitted

in Pravara Rural Medical College Hospital, Loni and their parents are informed

accordingly.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

SAINIK SCHOOL:

1. Keeping in mind the aim of Sainik School which prepares cadets for entry into Armed

Forces, we follow some selection criteria for admission. Also, Sainik School being an

English Medium school, fair knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory.

2. Admissions are given from 5th

Standard to 12th

Standard for Sainik School based on

the merit and medical fitness. Admissions are opened from 1st

February every year.

3. Aptitude test & Interview are conducted based on student’s previous year’s syllabus.

Cadet has to be medically fit for admission.

4. For Grade 5, only Aptitude test is mandatory. For Grades 6 to 9, test is conducted on

pattern of other Sainik Schools.

5. For class 11, written test paper consists of questions from Mathematics, English and

General Knowledge. Written examination is of 'Multiple Choice Questions' type

based on Grade 10 syllabus. Cadet has to be

medically fit for admission.

6. No admissions are given in Grades 10 and 12.

7. The successful candidates will be intimated

the same day and they have to confirm the

admission by paying Rs. 5,000/- immediately

as Registration fee.

The cost of prospectus along with the application form is to be paid in cash or by a

Bank draft in favour of The Commandant, Padmashri Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Sainik

School. (Prospectus can also be obtained in person on the day of written exam).

admission or actual joining:

IMPORTANT RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR CADETS AND PARENTS

� Parents can meet their wards only on visiting days as given in calendar. School

reserves the right to makes changes in calendar as per school requirements.

� Leave will not be given to cadet during academic session. Parents are requested not

to approach for cadet’s leave for religious functions & other ceremonies etc.

� Punctuality is very important. Cadets must reach 5 minutes before every activity such

as PT, Parade, Meals and Classes, Games or any other event.

� Disciplinary action, including a fine will be imposed for coming late to the class or

bunking the class and staying in the dorm during school hours.

� Leaving school campus without written permission of House Master and

Commandant is not allowed and will result in fine of Rs. 200 and/ or rustication from

hostel after calling parents.

� Mobiles are strictly not permitted. If

caught there will be fine of Rs.

1,000/- and mobile will not be

returned.

� Cadets will not carry more than Rs.

200/- with them. Extra cash will be

kept with House Master with record.

� No other valuables such as gold, cameras or electronic goods will be kept in dorm.

Valuable is defined as any item costing Rs 1,000/- or more. Items part of school daily

routine such as uniforms, beddings, blazer etc will not be counted as valuable.

� Stealing is strictly prohibited and is punishable offence. It will lead to a fine and

rustication in serious cases. Picking up another cadet’s item without permission is

also banned in school.

� Ragging is banned in

school and is punishable

offence. Cadets

harassed or troubled by

seniors will report to

House Masters and

Principal/Commandant.

Cadets caught ragging

will be fined and/or will

be rusticated from hostel. Fighting, beating among class cadets is strictly forbidden in

campus. Defaulters will be rusticated after calling parents.

� Those damaging school properties will be punished heavily. A fine double the cost of

damaged items will be charged. Serious cases may be rusticated from hostel.

� Leading or borrowing money from cadets, mess workers, shopkeeper or any other

person is not permitted. It will lead to heavy fines.

� Boys are not permitted to take any item on credit from the school shop. Money is

required to be taken from House Master.

� Borrowing or lending clothes, shoes or any other item is not permitted.

� Cadets will not bring any eatables from outside. Parents are advised not to bring

large tins of 'khau' (Sweet or Homemade food items) for wards.

� Playing inside dormitory, mess or classes is not permitted.

� Sick cadets must report to PT in-charge at 6:00 AM (on working days) and to sick

room by 7:30 AM and not stay in dorm without written slip from Nursing Attendant/

Doctor.

� Cadets must obey the house

appointments. Disobedience of an

appointment is punishable.

� Drugs, Smoking and drinking are

prohibited. If caught, cadet will be

expelled from the school. There is no

pardon for this.

� Cadets must save electricity and water and make it a habit to switch off lights, fans

and taps when not required.

� Parents are not permitted to visit school any time other than visiting days. They will

not be permitted to enter the campus gate. Please cooperate.

� Leave more than two days will not be granted. Parents must speak to Commandant

and escort the cadet themselves up to X Std.

� Parent's vehicles are not permitted in mess or dorm area. They should remain in

specified car park near gate. Please cooperate with security.

� Parents are requested to meet the child in academic block or near gate and not come

inside the mess/hostel.

� Parents are requested to speak and meet House Master and Class Teacher during the

Open Days and note progress of their wards.

� Parents are requested not to ring up their wards more than once in week. This

disturbs the cadets. Calling after 9PM is not permitted unless in emergency.

� Parents are not permitted to visit cadet in dormitory.

� Parents are advised to note the mobile numbers of House Master, Principal and

Commandant and are welcome to call the with their important and genuine points,

complaints and suggestions only on working days between 09.00AM to 04.00PM.

� School administration advises the parents to cooperate to run the school efficiently

and help us in overall academic excellence and personality development of their

children.
