The only standard for measuring sin is the holy character of God.

Sin is sinful because it is unlike God.How can we understand God and

who He is, unless we study about Him.

Three kinds of sin…Three kinds of sin…

1. Imputed sin…this is the sin of Adam. Because Adam sinned we all have the sin nature imputed to us through his blood. We are all now born spiritually dead.

Inherent sin…2. Inherent sin, this is the sin nature

every human being inherits from his parents.

This includes our areas of natural weaknesses and natural strengths—like our physical characteristics and tendencies of our parents. No two sin natures are exactly alike.

2. Personal sin, this is the result of choices we make and is the outward evidence that everyone has a sin nature.

Personal sin is what is usually referred to as “sins” in the Bible.

God gives us all free will to make our own choices in life. He didn’t want little robots running around.

Sin is serious business. Too often people take sin too lightly and make jokes about sin, and say that sin is nothing more than "mistakes" or "errors," but to the holy God of heaven, sin is very serious.

Sin is serious…Sin is serious…

The awfulness of sin will never be fully understood by men. If we could fully understand how HOLY God is, we would begin to understand how terrible sin really is.

Proof that sin is terrible…Proof that sin is terrible…Angelic Proof--Just "one little" sin was committed by an angel called Lucifer (see Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:15,17) and as a result he was condemned and sentenced to an eternity in the lake of fire (see Matthew 25:41 and Revelation 20:10).

In addition to Lucifer's fall, countless numbers of other angels also fell and became demons.

Human Proof--Adam ate some fruit that he was told not to eat (Genesis 3).Today people often make fun of "Adam eating the apple."

Well, because of this one, single, sinful act, SIN AND DEATH CAME UPON THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE (Romans 5:12).

The fact that Jesus Christ went to the cross proves that sin is very serious to God. God cannot overlook sin or pretend it is not there.

Man was created to have fellowship with God and to enjoy a close relationship with his Creator.

Sin breaks this fellowship and causes a terrible separation: "But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God" (Isaiah 59:2).

When sin is present in the life of an unsaved person, he is said to be DEAD in sins (Ephesians 2:1).

The only remedy is to mend the break so that there can be a right connection.

Christ is the only One who can mend this break between the sinner and God because "Christ died for our sins.

which is so popular today. Does this music point in any way to the sinfulness of man? Think about the lyrics of many of the popular songs.
